Fantastic course, I was surprised how much I was interested. It does require your time to do the reading and preparing all the IDs, and you can't do well without it. You have to go to lectures too, it's an all-or-nothing sort of class if you want to pass. Prof Taylor is an amazing lecturer, definitely the most interesting history class you'd get.

Professor Taylor is amazing. Do the ID's, once you learn to study for those, the class midterm and quizzes are easy. I love this class. Taylor knows his stuff. Just pay attention, and do the reading.

Prof. Taylor is a genious. He is a walking, breathing, historical encyclopedia. And, he taught me a hell of a lot about writing. But most importantly, he wears fantastic ties. I won't spoil it. Take him and see for yourself. I highly recommend prof. Taylor to anyone that hopes to pursue a career in history.

Funny, smart guy. Interesting lectures. With that said... in his papers, he looks for a very refined, dull style of writing. He literally circles it every time you use the word "was" and takes points off of your paper b/c of passive voice. C'mon man, what are we, in 3rd grade?

GO TO CLASS. Excellent professor who has extensive knowledge of American history in the colonial and early national period. Difficult class, read the material. Despite my lower grade, I always came to class due to the interest of the subject which was due to his good lecturing.

Overall, this class is tailored for history majors and not recommended for non-majors. That said, it can be an enriching and insightful class if you are interested in the early years of the U.S., and its struggle for national independence and republican government.

note, he was a great lecturer and i have an A right now so i am not a bitter student. now, be prepared for hundreds of ID's, literally. it is absolutely insane. be prepared for these id's if you are taking a normal course load of 4 classes. it adds up quick, and again i say, is insane!

Extremely interesting lecturer, made me want to go to 10AM class every single day! Have to keep up on all readings, go to discussion, and participate in it. TAs are very helpful and will make you think in discussion. The paper and it's rewrite were extremely hard but worth it because I learned so much about writing papers. Highly recommend it!!

Absolutely incredible lecturer and very funny. Big emphasis on writing well, and he definitely whips your essays into shape. It's important to go to lectures because he gives a list of key words that will be on tests and quizzes.

Professor Taylor is such a greaet lecturer/storyteller. He's funny too! At first, I didn't want to take US History, but he made the course enjoyable. It is now one of my favorite classes that I've taken at Davis so far! It wasn't easy, but I miss this class.

Taylor is the best professor I have had so far at UCD. He sincerely cares that his students understand the material, and he presents it in a very coherent, interesting manner. I loved his stories and I never wanted to miss class because every lecture was not only a wealth of information, but I also truly enjoyed it. Fantastic class and professor!

Prof. Taylor is good Prof; if you stay awake in lecture, you will actually learn a lot. Your grade in this class is dependent on your TA; if the TA is good, you should do fine. Lectures are mandatory; memorize the ID's; the final is based on them. Paper was not so bad..overall, pretty good learning experience :)
