Comment:
Emeritus; a savant in her field but papers graded tougher than any English class. Despite completing all assignments I was told I did not; no opportunity to prove my case. Deadlines, submissions, etc. were inconsistent on the Website. I put more effort into this online class than any other and still only managed a B. No interaction among students.

This class requires a lot of work and dedication. Expect 10 hours a week out of class if you're a decent reader/writer, even more if you're slower. Essays/short responses are the only major grades in the class. Participation is heavily encouraged. Korros is an incredibly harsh grader, though she does give you advice on how to improve.

Comment:
Dr. Korros does not really teach anything relevant to what you need to know for her assignments, which will not be based on Russian history even though it's discussed daily. Class is extremely boring and might put you to sleep. Your assignments will get ripped apart so good luck. Definitely would not recommend taking any course taught by her.

Comment:
While Korros offers a dynamic view of history through the lens of a Russian historian even when Russia was irrelevant to the conversation. Because of her lack in conciseness and the harshness of her criticism, I would never recommend that you take this professor.

Yes, you will need to work hard to succeed in her class, but she WILL make you a better writer if you don't sulk over your first few bad grades. She is odd sometimes, but she is so knowledgeable and does do a great job conveying her knowledge to students if you pay attention and do the reading before class.

Avoid this professor at all costs! Her lectures and demeanor both will cause you to hate history. I genuinely believe Xavier should fire her and hire someone who can effectively connect to students. At best, she is a mediocre educator.

Proceed with caution. Do not take unless you are confident in your writing ability. She is enjoyable to have, but you will need to do ALL of the learning on your own. Again, do not take her if you are lacking in writing skills.

Comment:
Unfair in grading and does not effectively teach course material. She is a good historian, it is clear that she knows her subject, however, the style in which she teaches does not communicate information hardly at all and then imposes a grading scale equivalent to a seminar level class. This teacher should be avoided.

History was never my favorite subject before taking this class, but after taking it for a semester I can honestly say it was the class I dreaded the most. She rips apart papers to the point of being ridiculous and often degrades the writers themselves, and made many of her students want to cry. Please avoid.

Cornell and Columbia. This is all you you need to know about Professor Korros. Her pretentiousness and poor teaching style are the highlights of the class. Honestly, I have never not looked forward to a class as much as this class.

Korros believes shes a good teacher, but in reality she falls short. She goes off on tangents, does not answer questions, does not explain herself or assignments, and has a tendency to attack not only your work, but your character as well. I loved history, until I had her. She completely turned me off to the subject. avoid this teacher at all costs

Comment:
Dr. Korros is very pompous and offers her students very little help. She enjoys finding fault in her students, but will not offer any services to help. Grades papers harshly, but will let you rewrite the work. There is no point in coming to class because she reads the text back to you, but if you do not come expect a lower grade.

Extremely knowledgeable, but ridiculously boring. Grading is fairly random, but she will help you get better at writing and thinking in historical terms if you visit her outside of class. Very smart, not a great lecturer.

Boring class and subject. She lectures what is in the book, so if you don't go and just read the book you'd be fine; but she gives points for participation so you're kinda forced to sit through class. Rips papers apart but grades tests fair (although tests are hard). Loves talking about judaism and russian history which are irrelevant to the class.

I found Dr. Korros to be kind, helpful and affable both as a teacher and an academic advisor. She made me work very hard, and I am still thankful for it 16 years later. She cares about her students. She's good people.

She is a hard but fair teacher. Yes she will make you work for your grade, but that is the point of school. You will have to write a lot, but again that only makes you a better student. Her door is always open and is always willing to help you. It just requires effort on your part as a student. She is not easy, but this is college, not high school

Comment:
she is very arrogant. as a person, she is nice to an extent and seems to care; however, her lectures are dry and she makes students feel stupid for asking questions. her own voice is music to her ears. there is a huge emphasis on writing in her classes. she makes history seem more dead than it already is
