Amazing professor. Incredibly smart and funny. Her vocabulary may be intimidating at first, but you get used to her way of lecturing and she is truly great at what she does. Makes you think about things you never thought about before. Take this class if you like art and culture and contemplating and writing.

Difficult to get used to her way of speaking at first. However, her lectures are pretty inspirational and encouraging to participate as long as you have done the readings. Hard to get a very decent grade on exams (long papers) because she would judge upon grammar, but A- or B+ is not hard as long as you understand all the lectures.

Lecture heavy and lots of reading assignments. The final grade is based on 3 takehome exams and your participation. As long as you read what Professor Willis tells you to do and go to the lectures you will know how to write the exams. Exam questions are posted on bb 1 week before it's due, you will have enough time to write if you start early.

Professor Willis deeply cares about the material and it shows in her lectures. There is a heavy focus on class discussion and participation. Stay up to date with your screenings and you will be fine! She is a wonderful woman who cares for her students and their well being. Highly recommend, especially if your major isn't in Media.

She is nice but a rather harsh grader when it comes to the big essays. I think if I went to her office hours more than once, she would be more lenient. She said I was a good writer but took points off for who knows what, which is why I dislike humanities courses since they're not straightforward like the sciences. Participate in class and read!

Class is very boring, she is very unclear when lecturing, all over the place with her thoughts, really hard to take notes on it. Demeaning marks on papers. Not fair.

She's very kind and encouraging and loves when students contribute in class. Lectures can get boring....but she's a lenient grader and gives a decent amount of completion time for her take home exams. First FMS class I took, really enjoyed the material

Professor WIllis is extremely knowledgable about her craft, and she is very engaging in class. She's very interested in ideas brought up by students, especially if its something she hasn't considered before. She is funny and quite charming. THe class itself is very interesting, as long as you watch the films. Exams are take home papers.

I really enjoyed this class much more than I thought I would. The work load is slight. The exams are all in take-home essay form and you can chose which questions to answer. She grades a little on the easy side, and you can see she is passionate about what she teaches. Take very good notes though, because a lot of material is covered.

She's a great teacher. Definitely take a class with her if you can. She's a fair grader (if not slightly lenient). Classes are more discussion based. If you take notes and stay attentive in class you'll do fine.

She is quirky and funny -- makes class interesting. Speak up! She rewards those who talk and does not put people down. Encouraging. Above all, go to class. It makes writing the papers (exams) so much better. She is looking for thoughtfulness on them, not any "right" answer per se.

She always acted better/smarter than any one else. The class was extremely boring and far-reaching. Basically I put alot of effort into my papers, handed them all in on time and received demeaning comments, while another student (who she clearly liked) handed in all of his papers after finals were over and received an A in the class. How unfair!

This class I took was severely uninteresting and unexciting. The professor was understimulating and frequently asked questions that had obvious answers. For one paper she told me the advertisements I chose to write about were uninteresting and failed to see how I could write a paper about them. I thought they were extremely interesting. avoid her

ridiculously closed minded to other peoples views and very condescending. Told me my interpretation of a painting was wrong, how can that be? its opinion based...anyway class is boring. I'm not alone in my opinions either, many others in this class feel the same way

Clearly she's brilliant and know what she's talking about. you MUST follow the reading syllabus and NOT fall behind. Her film class can be a tad bit dry as a result of the philosophy of film in some texts. Hang in there and use your journals to structure your essays. You can even form your own essay topics! Whatever you do, dont fall behind!

Brilliant and flooded with irreverent humor! Your papers will get a one (sometimes 2) page critique with a fat grade at the bottom. She's a fair grader and loves...and i mean LOVES people who talk consistently. If you shy away, office hours are key.

Obviously and facinatingly brilliant. lectures are very interesting although occasionally difficult to follow and one sometimes gets the impression that she doesn't recognize the fact that not everyone else is a brilliant as she is. overall a great professor and one of my favorites.
