Professor Martin really cares about his students, encouraging students to participate. This is especially important for an upper level foreign language course. His homework is graded by completion, and the quizzes and two exams are easy as long as you do the work he assigns and attends class. I definitley recommend.

I loved Dr. Martin! He is a native speaker from Spain - you'd be hard-pressed to find a native speaker at UT. I was in his 3000 class, so there was lots of homework, which is normal because how else can you practice the language? For this level, you NEED to have a good base in Spanish or else you will be lost. Overall great class!!

I had Professor Martin for Spanish 1. It had to be online due to Covid. He is a very good teacher. He calls on you randomly which is nerve racking. However, he is very helpful and answers your questions and emails promptly. He is a sweet older man. He doesn't make you feel bad or stupid for not knowing things.

The class overall was very difficult. However the professor was open to meet with a student after class and describe the topics in depth. At times his rubrics for essays were not clear. The exams were also very hard. You need to study for every quiz and exam. He expects you to apply what you have Learned in depth

Nice professor, always willing to help. Homework, but not too much- it helps. Tests are hard, but he is pretty good at making sure his students are successful. He's very good at teaching and cares if we understand or not. I learned so much from him because he's a native. If you want to learn Spanish, he is the perfect professor to teach you.

Took Sr. Juan this past summer session. Great teacher. I hadn't taken spanish in nearly 5 years, so I was very worried for his class. However, he was helpful and the work load wasn't bad. Tests were exactly as study guide. Do the homework, go to class and show effort and you will be fine no matter your spanish level coming in!

Had for both Span and Eng ling. Thought he was a very good teacher. Tests were the hardest I've ever taken, but if you study and go to class every day, you should do "ok". Very nice and approachable, will help you after class if you ask. His Spanish is really easy to understand. Learned a lot from him.

Surviving his class was next to impossible... and I'm a straight A honors student. I don't usually complain about professors... but this man was frequently crabby and often not very helpful. Expects perfection out of beginning students. Be warned.

Ok? Ok? Da Acuerdo? He says this all the time. He tries very hard to be helpful, but doesn't usually understand the question, & explains something else. Gives too much homework for the time given in class to go over it. Very nice tho

Syntax is a bit difficult, but reading the text will help a lot. very intelligent prof & he tries to have you understand him correctly. accent is there, but if you have problems understanding it, you might as well take it from another prof.

Okay...really nice guy, but he shouldn't be a teacher. Sintax is hard anyway, and when you have a professor that isn't good at explaining things, you're screwed. Very tough class...don't take it if you don't have to.
