Dr. Stockton is a soft spoken southern man, can sometimes be hard to follow but he's a great teacher. I took SC History with him, you will need all of those books for one paper each and then never again. Multiple "book reports"; marginal effort will get you an A. Keep up with your syllabus.

Not an easy history class. His lecture does not reflect readings and he goes off on tangents often. Exams are all essay based and he grades harshly. I found that he sometimes would call things by the wrong name and can be passive aggressive when you ask questions. Would not recommend if you are looking for an elective to fill.

Amazing Professor!!! needless to say one of the most interesting classes I've taken so far and I'm not even a history major. I would highly encourage bringing a laptop to class or phone to take pics of slides. Stockton knows his Charleston history inside and out. Super easy to get along with and study guides are GOLD!!!

Modern Charleston: Talks very slow and soft so sit up front to hear him. Gives study guides before exams that are pretty good. Pretty reasonable guy if you talk to him outside of class.

I love him!! He's a bit hard to follow, but it is amazing to listen to him! The dude knows his stuff, and while the class is an architecture class it provides a new historical perspective. Bring a lap top for notes and be maticulous. Multiple choice come from notes/reading but you only need notes for essays. Offers a lot of extra credit.

He gets a lot of crap from students, and though his class is definitely a challenge, in the long run it really benefited me as a history major. If you know nothing about architecture like I did then you HAVE to study up . He will use terms that you won't understand and the pictures that he uses don't show what he is talking about. Take notes and st

Good Lord does this man love the Chuck! His tests are fair, just take notes on the details and ask him if you have questions. He knows WAY too much about this place just don't feel belittled if he comes up cocky, he's just out there to set the record straight on Charleston myths.

3 hours of lecture..wow. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of the subject and expects that his students retain at least some of it for the 3 tests. Class was interesting just really, really long. I think even he was tired by the last hour. Take if you are interested in the subject otherwise find another elect, NOT an easy A for the disinterested.

Interesting class if you like Architecture...if you don't, then don't take the class. He speaks very slowly, and can be boring at times, but he has a dry sense of humor, and you can tell that he loves Charleston and architecture. He is open to questions, and wants his students to learn the material and do well.

Do not take a course with Professor Stockton unless you've had Intro to Architecture or are suffiently comfortable with architectural jargon. Otherwise you'll be lost in the dust! Aside, Chas. Arch is a wonderful class where you can really build your knowledge of the local built environment.

you will regret taking this class. You can hardly hear him talk, and he is very unorganized and boring. class has a lot of potential, but he just ruins it. it's been about 5 weeks now since the first test and we still haven't gotten our grade back. pathetic. you won't enjoy this class.

In this class, the only point that Stockton wants to make is that he knows more about Charleston history than you do- although I'd never expect to know as much as any professor about any subject- could my grade indicate if I learned or not?. . .
