He is not as bad as people say he is. He's pretty good guy. Course is rather semi-difficult but he's tests are easiest ever. I got 99 on the first exam, thought class was a joke, didn't study got mid 80s on next two tests, studied pretty hard got 100 on 4th test and final. He also gives you like bonus points.

If you are not a math major and are just looking for a good grade, do not take a class with him. If you are a math major, you will learn a crazy amount of math but you will have to work very hard. I kind of miss having classes with him.

Dr. Friedland is a extremely nice person. I do have to admit that its not the easiest class because your grade is based only on the 4 tests. The tests are not the easiest ones either. he is very helpful. recommended

Terrible teacher. The tests are only like 4 questions each and make up the entirety of your grade so if you get one question wrong there's 5% of your total grade. Plus he tests on material that he doesn't cover in class or with homework. And he blocks what he's writing on the board so the right half of the class can't see it

Dr. Friedland is easily one of my favorite professors at Geneseo. His examples are always clear and he leads you through the problems step-by-step. In addition, he's absolutely hilarious! Yes, the class is hard and you WILL have to work for your A, but if you go to class and pay attention, Dr. Friedland makes things clear and gives GREAT notes.

Terrible teacher, All he does is stand at the chalkboard and write math problems, he is extremely unhelpful in office hours. The tests are also extremely difficult and unfair, no partial credit or leway on anything. Worst teacher i have ever had

He definitely knows what he's talking about, but he doesn;t explain it, just writes problem after problem. He's so smart that he expects the class to get the material when he skips steps and rarely goes over the homework. The tests are hard and not based on the homework. He expects you to know what to do on the test and it's stuff you never learn.

Absolutely terrible teacher. Paying attention in class, doing all the homeworks, and studying like crazy will get you an 80 if you're lucky. His tests are the entire course, and each is only 4 questions long. He's also about as easy to listen to as nails on a blackboard. Don't take Calc III with him, even if you have no choice.

For the most part he stands with his back to the board and does problem after problem. For a question to be answered you need to just interrupt him and ask. Grades are based on exams only which are short and pretty challenging. Miss one question and you lose about 20 points. I DO NOT recommend taking a class with him unless you've taken calc before

This guy should teach only advanced classes, he talks like we all know what hes saying and hes about as warm and welcoming as tombstones. He stands in front of class with his back turned to the students and does problem after problem while the class looks at him like zombies.

Personality has a lot to be desired and could (at least when I had him) have been a lot more encouraging to his students. Tests were short and difficult. I ended up withdrawing and there were a good number of Es for midterm freshmen grades. I strongly do NOT recommend.

tests are short and really, really difficult. 4+ hours of studying equals about a 58. curves only if the whole class bombs it which happens a lot.

Grades are 100% based on test. Tests are challenging to say the least. They're short as well so if you miss a question you will get about 20 points off. I'd bet he gives out about one A a semester. Very good teacher though.

Nice guy. Wouldn't reccomend to take if you're a bad test taker because those are your only grades for the class. if you do the hw (which isn't graded/collected) as you go instead of all right before the test it may be easier to get the good grade

He gives excellent lectures with great, complete notes. He drops some humor into the class to keep it interesting. The grade comes entirely from the tests, which are straight forward and have no surprises. I learned a ton and enjoyed his class.

One of the best courses I have ever taken in Geneseo. Very straight to the point in notes and tests. No graded homework, grade is entirely based on tests, 3/7 of which is the final.

The materical is pretty difficult, but he is VERY good at explaining things and he always gives tons of examples. He doesn't check the homework, but I would suggest doing at least some of it. He makes the corniest jokes and he wears the same plaid shirt and vest every single day.

Friedland is one of the best professors at Geneseo. I learned so much from him. I got a 28 on the first exam for Calc 3, went to him discouraged, worked my butt off, and earned a B+ in the class. Don't give up if you're doing poorly, just prove to him you can do it on the final. Study the notes REALLY well and be able to do the homework problems!
