Wes is a great professor and I'm very surprised by some of these ratings. If you enjoy a professor who can talk about anything and make it interesting, Wes is the man for you. Overall an awesome, caring, funny professor who makes learning fun!

Wes is a great professor, and although his class wont make you suffer, Ive ultimately learned a lot from him. Its a mark of him being a good professor that you can get a lot out of the class without feeling overwhelmed or stressed out.

Comment:
Horrible professor. Don't ever take this class with him. Kennison loves to hear himself talk and cares very little about opinions other than his own. You will find yourself bored in class and struggling to stay awake. The course is graded based on 4 or 5 assignments that are based on little criteria and graded harshly. DO NOT RECCOMEND THIS CLASS!!

I recommend sleeping through class and just turning in assignments at his office. Lectures were extremely boring and not related to assignments. Prompts did not require any reading beyond the Sparknotes. Definitely an old-school style teacher. Nice guy though.

I took this class abroad and it was a great decision to take it with this professor. Wes is a great person, but as a teacher he doe ramble and go off on a tangent at times. His class abroad (different than at Geneseo) consisted strictly of papers as tests, and a personal journal. He is easy to talk to and if you do it will help you do well in class

Wes is wonderful. He seems a bit scattered, but that's because he's busy trying to make the school a better place for the students. He grades mostly on effort, so if you show up and turn everything in, you'll do fine. If you need structure and strict deadlines though, do not take this. He will take assignments for full credit the last day of class.

Comment:
Wes is hilarious and kind, but he talks about himself a lot. The only graded work was portfolio, a final, and a research paper. Many people in the class rarely showed up and most of us still passed. If you want to get a good grade, focus on the vocab and learning the declensions. Study every week if you want to get a solid grade and do well in 201.

Comment:
Wes is the classic image of the pseudo intellectual, foofy, arrogant professor type. Listening to him ramble for 2 hours at 8:10am was borderline unbearable. That said, the time and effort needed to get by in his class is little none. You can basically push the class to the back of your mind and ignore it all semester, which is ideal for hum.

Do yourself a HUGE favor and take Humanities with someone else. Kennison puts in 2% effort all semester, and grades are pulled out of thin air with no justification or notes about what was wrong. You will be kicking yourself out of the shear intellectual stagnation and utter ridiculousness of this class. He really doesn't seem to care.

Comment:
Taking a class with Kennison is like watching a one man show where he tries to intellectually challenge himself, and you die of boredom. He is the most arbitrary grader I have ever seen using his own made up criteria. Now I know that taking a teacher who calls himself arrogant was a mistake because that is exactly what you're going to get. Easy A

Wes is an interesting fellow, and will certainly make you laugh. I've only taken 1 semester of Latin with him so far, but I learned a lot. I'm taking Latin Reading Group with him this semester hopefully. There aren't many assignments or tests or quizzes to speak of, just go to class and participate in his conversation and you'll do well.

Ken is all about participation and stimulating discussions. Unlike most HUM courses, you are not reviewing the synopsis of the book but connecting text-to-world and self. I would take this class again if it weren't at 8:05AM-9:45AM (1hr, 40mins). Sometimes he cancels, ends class early or shows up late. Regardless, I highly recommend.

People who think Wes is a good teacher can take a seat. He talks about (1) himself, (2) how he's better than you cause he traveled, (3) Italy, (4) how he knows more about everything cause he's been to Italy. Boring and not as intelligent as you'd think. Lectures reek of his blinding privilege. Take his brother, McClure, WAY better & you learn.

Great professor. Lectures aren't very structured and he does take awhile to get assignments back, but he's very entertaining and keeps class interesting. Put in the work and you'll learn a lot and do well.

I think that Humn in general is very useless for 95% of students by nature, and it seemed like even Wes didn't know what to do with a few of the books, since he would just ramble about random anecdotes that don't have anything to do with the course. So, lectures were somewhat pointless and the few assignments/exams were highly subjective essays.

Kennison is a great guy. If you make an effort in his class, he will treat you well. He is easy to meet up with if you need extra help and yes he is passionate about his going abroad programs. He did alot of work in Nicaragua to build a school and he deserves to be proud of it. He keeps in touch with alot of former students

I liked humn 1 and was looking forward to this class, but it was terrible. He just talks about himself and how he took students to Nicaragua. He gives papers back months after you hand them in with seemingly random grades and useless comments. Take humn with someone else.

Wes is a great guy, but probably not the best of professors. Grades seem pretty arbitrary and he gives obscure paper topics. Class goes by fast, but mostly he talks about the life and times of Wes Kennison.

Just finishing my second semester of Latin with him. He fully understands that we're not going to become Latin translators, he's more interested in us getting something from the course that will help us in our professional lives. Gives stressful tests but "doesn't take the grade". He just wants to see that you're trying, it can be annoying though.

Comment:
Wes is not all he's talked up to be. Class is more interesting than other humanities profesors, but he talks alot about himself. Grades seem pretty arbitrary, and our final grades seemed to come out of nowhere, considering three out of five assignments were not returned. Nice guy, not the best professor around. Hard to contact if necessary.
