Comment:
Lectures are LONG! organic chem is hard to pay attention to for an hour, but hour and a half lectures makes it impossible to remember all of the material covered. When you ask for help on a problem she just tells you to look in the book, in your notes or to go to tutoring. NOT HELPFUL! The tests are nothing like the homework problems and very long!

Comment:
Dr. Fredette is a nice person, however she lacks teaching skills. The powerpoints are read word for word, and she does not make them so they are very confusing and not helpful. The problems that she "goes over" in class are nothing like the ones one the homework or tests. When you ask for help with a difficult question she doesn't help.

Comment:
She just gives hands outs, and has us go up to the board as if we're in middle school. She gives problems first and then shows us how to solve them, which does not work for me. She wastes half of the class time by going around helping each individual as it is enough time to go around and help everybody.

An impressively knowledgeable woman. She will take the time to help you solve any question you ask for. I repeat ask for, her subject often is considered the hardest in undergrad work and you must approach her for help. Her lectures book-based which must be used to understand the material. Very understanding, provides opportunity for extra-credit

Worst teacher you could have for a difficult subject. Her powerpoints seem to be just copied and pasted, they're not built for learning. Rarely ever sits down and explains problems. The book is terrible, the problems require complete knowledge which nor the book or she gives. Google was necessary to complete HW

She's horrible at teaching, but great at pointing at a screen and talking to her students like they're toddlers.

Comment:
Awful teacher. Read the powerpoints and was completely uninteresting and seemed to be quite unconcerned if she was making any sense to the students. Very bad at relating material to students with absolutely no chem background whatsoever. I could be a teacher too, i can read, and point to things on a powerpoint setup!

Comment:
Brenda is not the best teacher in the world in the lecture setting. She can be boring and can lack clarity. BUT, if YOU seek out personal attention with her, she will work her ass off to make sure you master the information. Anyone who complains about her teaching never sought personal attention with her.
