I took this course over 30 years ago. George was as interesting then as I imagine he is now. Consider yourself lucky to have him. I so much looked forward to his lectures: his easy going demeanor, helpfulness and ability to get the teaching points across. I liked his course so much that I still have the book and will never part with it.

A strange guy but he tends to be very amusing. He does tend to go off topic and sometimes brings in topics from his other courses which have nothing to do with Info. Tech. but he has a lot of knowledge. Tests/Assignments are easy and fair if you put in the effort

Nice guy, but does not seem interested in teaching at all. He is off topic every class and can't seem to get back on topic easily. Everything I learned in that class was out of the text book (was an excellent text book). Also the stuff that was on the exam had nothing to do with what we 'covered' in class. Had 100% until the exam!

Sometimes it's hard to see the big picture with him, but he did a very good job of stimulating my interest in computer science. His analogies don't always make sense, but when it comes time to apply theory to lab it all pieces together. Very supportive and really made it interesting for me.

Nice friendly, and helpful but gets off topic. Lectures tend to be long and irrelevant. Real life experiences are nice to hear to a point, after that you want to learn the material you paid big money for.

Dr. McMaster is friendly and is willing to help out of class. He doesn't know how to explain things very well and he lets his class get out of hand talking about War Craft, NOT ALL OF US LIVE TO PLAY COMPUTER GAMES. Also he doesn't know who Mike Holmes is.

Did a very poor job of explaining the concepts, expects us to be able to do the material without explaining it. I went into his course as adept at programming as when I came out.

Wow, there are a lot of whiners here. This isn't high school people. George has a lot to teach, sadly only a handful actually grasp it (Hint, I'm not talking about for loops and variables here). Honestly, this is comp sci I. If you're having problems with this, you should consider another major. I liked Geo's classes and the gems he provided

Great prof. Contrary to some of the other comments here, I found his lecutres very inspirational, and his real world examples were both interesting and informative. He's always willing to help you if you ask for it. His classes aren't easy, but nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight.

Funny thing about WeCare is that he doesn't own it, his ex-wife does. This guy spent more time talking about "his" business and son (those in his class know who I mean) than teaching programing. My programing was entirely self taught.

I love programming, me and a friend have to teach it ourselves though. He was talking about inukshuks when i was in class so he isnt very helpful. If you take his classes make sure you read the text and have a good lab buddy. Also make darn sure you aquaint yourself with the lab assistant.

Great prof, likes using real world examples for programming, which makes the class more interesting and easier to grasp. Yes, he talks about himself and his company quite a bit, but he is a very successful person and it is good to listen to people like that if you want to become successful too.

He never really explained anything, thank God the lab Advisor was really good and explained things well.He never taught me anything new but I learned all about WeCare. He will write code on the board but most of the time its incomplete and you hae to do everything by yourself. Should he be teaching?

Comment:
Teaches ideas and his philosophies more than programming. That would be alright if we needed to learn that but assigments and tests are on programming so class wasn't the most helpful. Easy to get along with though.
