Main grades were essays and peer feedback. Essay topics were interesting and gave freedom to interpret. Overall, I really loved his class.

I loved taking Professor Couch. He is very inquisitive in his lectures and I admire his ability to decompose works so thoroughly and clearly. You must come to class. Your grade will go down after three absences. IF YOU WANT AN A GO TO OFFICE HOURS! He will sit with you and edit your paper and each time you go your paper increases a letter grade!!

Goes off on tangents. Tough grader when it comes to everything you can think of- grammar, structure, format- everything matters. He is fun and understanding. I wouldn't mind taking his class again. If you put effort into passing, you will.

He was an extremely hard grader and it can be hard to pinpoint what exactly he wants sometimes. I would recommend taking advantage of his office hours, i think i wouldve done much better if i did

Make sure all essays are exactly 4 pages. He's super picky about what he wants, but you can hardly get in his office hours. I've waited over an hour outside his office before and was told to come back tomorrow. He's a cool guy, but I didn't like his grading strategies. I've suggested that he changes his hours, so maybe he will. Not taking him again

I took him for 131 and 132, not because I am a gluten for punishment but because he is a good professor. I went to his office hours twice for each assignment. He does hand out some busy work, but i recommend you do it because all the points add up, he is serious about his attendance and texting. In order to fail you are simply not trying.

I took him as a duel credit student in high school and I found him fairly easy. My first semester with him was extremely easy, he teaches the bare basics for students whose high schools didn't provide them with that. With active participation I made an A. In the Fall I took 132 which was more thought provoking and I slacked a bit so I reviewed a B+

This professor was terrible, he would make everyone line up after writing our papers and read aloud the mistakes we would make as he circled the paper to redo. I went to his office hours quite a few times and he was no help. I made a 69 in the class, which was a fail because you have to make a C in his class to pass. DO NOT TAKE HIM!

Not a tough class. Papers were not too tough as long as you go to his office hours you will get an A. The classroom time its self is boring and he does like to hold discussions about current events that gets old after 8 in one month

I personally would not take this professor again. He is a nice guy, however in class you do not do anything. Which may be fine for some people. You just listen to him talk during class about random things, then are assigned an irrelevant essay at the end of class. He did help improve my writing which is what counts. Just overall, a boring class.

I adored this teacher! His class felt like a hangout. He always has something interesting to say and you always left knowing something new. If you work hard and are involved in class discussion, you will get an A.

OMG this class was entertaining! we always had debates and in class discusions. we would get off topic so much. we could work with him on when we should turn our papers in. i did not like when we talked about a poem it wasnt clear what exactly we had to do, but overall he is a great teacher for english 131!!

He is really nice. there is a lot of debate in his class which can be fun. He takes roll so you have to attend. he encourages students to come by for help and will basically grade your paper for you ahead of time if you bring it to him. BIG HELP. I liked this class a lot.
