Dr. Beaulieu is passionate about what he teaches, which makes the lectures enjoyable and interesting. There were 2 midterms and a final and if you take good notes and pay attention to his lectures then it is very easy to get an A in this course. I would totally take another one of his classes!

This is an awesome GPA boosting elective that is super interesting as well! The exams are all very fair, Greg's lectures are great, and a lot of the content (an equal blend of history and biology, not super science-heavy) is interesting too.

This was one of my favourite courses that I've taken at UVic! Dr. Beaulieu made this class so interesting and actually made me enjoy learning about history. I will say that I didn't find it to be "super easy" as there was a lot to study and you had to write down all the small details from all lecture videos in order to do well.

Dr. Beaulieu is and will always be on of my favourite professors at UVIC. He is passionate about what he teaches and it shows very clearly when he lectures. This class is highly recommended for anyone taking a science degree. The class had a nice flow and I found myself looking forward to listening to his lectures. Testing was fair !

Greg was a nice guy and provided excellent study resources like questions and textbook exercises. His lectures were dry, and his notes were confusing and slightly useless, but if you read the textbook, you're fine.

His biology class was fairly easy, but your only marks were the three midterms. I would reccomend attending the lectures because that is where most of the test questions seemed to be based off. His lectures were understandable. I hardly read the textbook. The three midterms were not hard, and were mostly just memorizing facts. Good professor.

Lectures are easy to follow although they are very information-heavy and he does have a tendency to ramble. He seems engaged in what he is teaching and does his best to help students during office hours. Seems like a genuinely nice guy.

A solid prof for sure. Lectures could be a bit boring but other than that they were fine. Topics were widespread and I had to study a lot to get a B+, so if you don't need to take this class and you're looking for an easy A this probably isn't the course.

Glad I took this course, many people where saying its really easy. However, I disagree with the "class being really easy", it is a-lot of work, especially when reading and studying for tests; a lot of memorization! However, if you do the readings and study you will most likely get an A+. He is a great proff!

Greg is the greatest teacher I have ever had! Seriously the most accomodating and caring prof out of all my other ones throughout the COVID-19 crisis, which in my opinion is very telling on the type of teacher he is. If you go to most lectures and do the readings you can do great in his class.

I went to the first couple of classes, and almost fell asleep each time. This is an extremely easy class to teach yourself, and Greg's notes are just so confusing and aren't reflective of tests at all. Safe yourself some time and teach yourself!

Dr Beaulieu knows his stuff, however does not seem enthusiastic to be teaching the course. His lectures heavily repeat the notes he posts on courspaces in addition to the weekly textbook readings. The grading method for this course is very much not clear, and there is not a lot graded on.

Comment:
In general Bio184/186 are boring and cover a lot of content but Greg is a genuinely nice guy who knows what he's talking about and has a lot of compassion for his students. Him and the whole Bio department have been more than accommodating in the wake of things like the bus crash in September and Covid19. Great person
