Comment:
Lectures are presented in an uninteresting way and are too fast, lacking thorough explanations. The lecture notes appear unorganized, are unhelpful, and are unclear. He takes an unacceptable amount of time to reply to emails.

The hw is important: do all of it, as much as you can including the suggested problems in his lecture notes. 210 covers a ton of topics. You want to do so many practice problems that, come final time, each problem type feels like riding a bike again. If you don't do enough problems, you'll try to hop on a unicycle. Always questions in discussion.

Comment:
The material he teaches is just difficult. But I had him for 210 and 560 and I would still probably prefer him over anyone else. Definitely better than taking anything with Kinnersly. The labs tie in directly to the lectures. Some labs are hard, some are pretty easy. If you don't study for his tests extremely thoroughly, you probably won't pass

Good teacher, has a bit of an accent but still easy to understand. The material is definitely challenging but the tests are easy, mostly based on homework. 2 midterms, 1 final and 6 homework assignments, that's all! Loved this class.

Has an accent, not thick enough to really hurt communication. Only ~8 homework assignments, 2 in class tests and a final. Homework solutions can be found online often. Requires a lot of studying before tests: proofs proofs proofs

Overall a very good professor. If you don't understand something he will always explain it in further detail to you. Always available in his office hours and won't leave until he has helped everyone there. His classes and tests can be tough but if you go to class every day and ask questions you should be fine. Took 560 (A) and 660 (B) from him.

Not a great professor. Nice guy; hilarious accent. Teaches the material well; it's just a boring subject. The tests will crush you. Out of eight questions on the final, I answered six before time ran out. He only covered four of them in class; rest were "intuition". It seems like he focused on things, we studied them; then tested over other things.

Comment:
The materials are not that hard and exam problems are all from the notes. The problem is he has a strange grading method and I never knew what he wanted to see. I thought I could get 90/100 in an exam but ended up with 60s because "the proofs are not clear". I am a graduate student with 4.0 GPA so I don't think I'm that stupid. I regret I took his.

The professor was very good at explaining stuff. I enjoyed the class and learnt a lot. The course was only hard for me at beginning cause I had no prior experience in C++ and Linux environment. after that it was not hard. ( lots of work, but not hard)

His lecture notes can be hard to understand, the pseudocode especially. He'll explain if you ask, but when you're up late working on a project it would be nice to understand the notes. Tests are straighforward but the class is lots of work--programming and written HW. The textbook is useless as well. His accent is funny but easy to understand.

I got an A and hardly ever went to class. When I did go to class, Kong was hilarious and it was actually not bad at all being there for 50 minutes. His accent is awesome and he explains thing very well.

Kong is a pretty good teacher. His notes are clear as well as his explanations as long as you can understand him. His tests def arent easy, but if you study and know the material you will be good to go.

I've taken both 268 and 210 from him. Managed to do well on the homework and projects but his exams will screw you over EVERY time. His idea of "easy" is not up to par. He always feels generous by saying one chart will be on the exam. Whoopeedo. I'm looking forward to another semester with him, I will squash him!

Kong is a good lecturer. His notes are clear and so are his explanations of what's going to be on the exams. His exams aren't easy, but if you've studied his notes, you should be OK. His review sheets are excellent.
