I'm an alumni of Montclair State, and I had Dr. Gotschall for Calc 1 and MAth for Bus I.He is awesome!I aced both classes and learned so much. You just need to get used to his quirkiness. He is very, very fair and if you work hard, you will do well.He also has a great sense of humour-just gotta catch him at the right time. Can still hear his laugh!

At first he seems like he's going to be tough but he really isn't. He's actually a very sweet man! He might go off topic at times but the subject is SO easy that you won't feel really lost. Also, you have to have patience in order to take his class. But other than that, his class is easy. He gives: 2 writing assignments and 3 chapter tests! EASY!

Straight to the point kind of professor, no b.s whatsoever, no goofing off in class. Very knowledgeable about the subject. Very rude to students and puts you on blast if you get something wrong. If you know basic math well then take him otherwise look for a different professor.

Gottschall is a little off when it comes to social conduct but he knows a lot about his subject. He is rude to students with questions during class but is helpful when you come to him outside of class. Deducts a full letter grade for every absence after your first.

First Impression: This guy is a nut! On the first day of class he began teaching, and nobody even had the book. He makes everyone move to the front of the class, and he's extremely anal about the little things (like stapling your papers). But, he's also extremely caring and helpful. Good Professor, but you need patience to take his class.

THis is the easiest Math class you'll take. Must have text book. Outlines questions topics for exam so make it easy. Exams multiple choice and true and false. Professor very nice and understanding. Attendance is required. Easy A

if you're backed into a corner take him but be prepared to study 70+ pages verbatim for the midterm and final. there are only two homework assignments (he's anal about little things so make sure you triple check the guidelines and ask questions in class). don't forget to sit in the front because he basically whispers when he lectures

This class is so boring and REALLY REALLY...hard. You have to be a good listener and pay a attention and memorize everything he tells you in order to do well. The reviews are legit. He's such hard grader and i'm telling you if you screw up on one essay your average goes down to a C already. He's picky about his students to so be on his good side.

Worst professor EVER! I came into his class thinking I hate Math but maybe college will change that! NOPE! He made it worse. Did not know how to teach whatsoever. Just recited the book HE WROTE and expected you to study 77 pages for the tests. The two writing pieces were stupid, too. He's super anal and takes 10 points off for just missing a staple

i would recommend this class. There are 2 small writing assignments, 1 midterm, and 1 final.. THAT'S IT! if you are a good listener you'll do fine. the downside is that each writing assignment counts twice and each midterm and final counts 4 times. so if you mess up on one assignment your screwed. he offers minimal to no extra credit.

The guy's homework assignments have a lot of really arbitrary requirements. He initially bragged about being poorly rated on this site, but now will break out rambling in the middle of class about how unfair the accusations are. His textbook goes from defining alegbra to discussing reincarnation within the same paragraph. He is nuts.

Class is actually fun. He teases alot and he's a really funny guy. He makes the development of math alot of fun to learn. I honestly cannot believe the reviews at rate my professors for this professor. He is so nice!!! even speaking to him in person he's great and totally understanding. He only gives 2 essays and 2 exams. I reccomend him to anyone.

This class is really easy, its not that bad. Just right the papers in his format, which 10% of your grade and just do good on the exams. The exams are not so bad, just study from his lectures and the book. you will pass. He's not as bad as people make him out to be. Don't be afraid of him and just take him. He may sound mean, but he's not.

If you follow the rubric for the writing assignments, go to class, and highlight what he tells you to you'll do fine. I don't think he is as bad as some people make him out to be. Yes, he's boring, blunt, and a little crazy, but he doesn't make the course impossible for you to get a good grade.

He is the nicest, coolest and most down-to-earth guy I've ever met, said nobody. Take the development of math if you have trouble doing math in general, but run in the other direction from this class.

Gottschall is one of the quirky and grouchy professors I've ever met. He tries to work with his students by teasing them even if they don't expect it he will but never really makes sense. I honestly wanted to never go to that class again after we had the first class with him.

OMG, he called me a jacka** the second week of class for asking about the word count of his writing assignment because he accused me of not reading the syllabus. Completely insane, but the work is easy as long as you highlight the entire book. But still, don't take this class, he is very rude and you cannot eat/drink/talk/breathe even.

Psycho. Seriously insane... and makes you buy the book he wrote which looks like a bunch of papers he took to staples to have copied and bound and charges $60 for it. Makes no sense when he screams and goes off on tangents constantly.
