Dr. Dorman is very clear with his lectures. He provides plenty of humor during lectures so you won't get bored. Tests are easy if you pay attention in class and read the assigned chapters. Papers are easy if you put effort into them.

If this man would focus more on the content of this class than his jokes that class would be a lot easier to comprehend. He doesn't respond to emails unless he feels like it's important. The university should be ashamed that this man represents the communications program. If I wanted to learn more about his life I would schedule a meeting.

This guy is hilarious. I never fell asleep in his class because of how entertaining and interesting he is. He is always willing to help if you go and ask him for it. There are quizzes every Friday, but if you look through the key vocab in each assigned chapter you'll do fine! Best comm teacher on campus!

He is a good professor. He explains things very well and tries to make class interesting. Speeches are obviously the focus and they aren't too bad. The class is required so you need to take it, he is a good professor to have. I learned a lot and improved my speeches because of him.

He is a hilarious guy, definitely keeps the lectures interesting. He gives a quiz every week, so you always have to read the chapters to get an A. Not hard though, interesting class. He is fair too.

Absolutely hilarious. Until the class got used to his humor we were literally crying from laughing so hard. Very very nice guy, however is a tough grader. You have to give 3 speeches and each one gets harder as you go, but the expectations are reasonable. Always available for help so don't be afraid to ask him as many questions are you can.

I had no problem with this man throughout the year until final grades were put in. He deducted my grade 1 full letter and I still have yet to know why.I always came to class and did all my work. He never responds to emails and is a horrible speaker himself. He's the definition of a "state school" professor. Avoid at all costs

Every Comm major should take Dr. Dorman at some point! This guy really knows his stuff with every aspect of the media. Not only that, he's very funny, has interesting stories and is great to talk to. Lectures are laidback and fun. Exams can be brutal, but reaction papers and quizzes should be easy points. Highly recommend this prof!

Exams are all vocabulary ones, easy to take. Final Exam same thing, it's just vocab. The text book is never used other than for studying the vocab. The speeches are as follows (Informative speech, Persuasive of Value speech, and Persuasive of Action speech) the third speech is worth 30% of your grade, so don't goof around.

Overly critical for a 100 speech class. His expectations for his outlines are extremely detail and rigid. His exams are pointless (memorization of key terms and vocabulary). Wouldn't recommend taking this class.

Overall, this was one of my favorite classes. Dr.Dorman is very helpful outside of class, and grades fairly. Make sure to read chapters as you are learning them in class. It is not difficult to get an A if you keep up with readings, and study for the quizzes. I would take him again if given the opportunity.

He is a very nice funny man but he grades very difficultly. no matter how many revisions I made, with his assistance even, I still couldnt get passed a C for each speech. Also if you're sending him something online, do it before the deadline and MAKE SURE it got to him. Otherwise, even if you have proof that you sent it he will mark your paper late

Good professor. Very funny and knows his stuff. He keeps the lectures interesting. The quizzes are pure vocab. Make flash cards!! However, his expectations for speeches are sometimes unclear. He could be begging for an encore, but then give you a D. PROOFREAD YOUR OUTLINES! Not for spelling, but that everything is labeled properly.

This class is BY FAR the best class to take as a broadcast student at Millersville University! Dorman will make you work, but its worth it. Anyone who's not serious about broadcasting SHOULD NOT take this class! You need to edit and know the studio equipment well to get an A. Dorman will push you, but he's a great guy too.

I've had Dr. Dorman for two classes, Broadcast News Reporting and Survey of Mass Media. In Survey of Mass Media, he's EXCELLENT. Very laid back teaching style, interesting. You will do well if you study. In Broadcast News Reporting, he can be a bit intimidating, but he's recreating the atmosphere of a news room. BNR is quite difficult, but worth it
