Comment:
He was a nice guy and gave good lectures, but he gave exceptionally low marks, even though I put a lot of effort into it. His strict grading made me lose my confidence in economics. I have been working hard on the term paper for a month, but he only gave me a 20% grade with a weak reason of only two sentences.

I am a fifth year econ major & this course was so unorganized. The content was not hard but he blindly handed out grades to keep the class average to 50%. He cancelled 3 weeks of lecture due to internet problems. He gave the class a 100% on a quiz probably because he didn't make one. Do not take his class.

His policy report marking was all over the place with rubric points you had to discuss, but wouldn't tell you about until after you got your mark back. He straight up canceled 3 or 4 classes the morning of, and "accidently" dropped out of the ZOOM lecture another 3 or 4 times without warning (he didn't get back afterwards or email after).

Dr. Oxoby seemed nice, but the class was not a great experience. A bunch of the lectures were cancelled, some without any notice. Lectures we did have were confusing and disorganized. No clear guidelines for assignments, and communication on assignments was all over the place. I would skip a class with him, there are better econ profs.

Terrible class with Oxoby. He did not care about even starting half the zoom lectures and failed to give guidelines for any paper/project. Probably the worst prof I've ever had!

Online class was very disorganized. Sometimes missed lectures with no notice. Cancelled about three lectures this term. Lectures he did deliver were very all over the place, full of technical difficulties, and hard to follow. It sometimes seemed like people received arbitrary grades so he could get a perfect distribution. Would not take another.

he's a nice guy but this class was super disorganized. didn't reply to emails sometimes, dropbox deadlines were all over the place, and he never posted letter marks as per the new department grading system so it was difficult to see what your grade was. lectures were confusing + mostly useless for the tests where the class avg was around 50%.

I was in a "experimental" class which consisted of 6 professors rotating every 2 weeks. If you are placed in this class, SWITCH OUT. The class were he solely taught was great according to my friend but mine was horrid. My final was all written (5 PAGES) when everyone else's was all MC. This unorthodox way of teaching should be banned.

Professor Oxoby is one of the most engaging profs I've had. His lectures are always engaging and basically everything you need to pass is covered in-class. His tests are relatively difficult with sometimes weird short answer questions, but if you study the lecture notes you should be fine.

funny guy, but assignments and exams were insane. I took this class as an elective/easy A but it was harder than my technical courses. pick someone else as a prof for econ201, theres like 6 others

really personable guy and the course content is interesting, but lectures are really disorganized and do not really add anything to the slides, which are already confusing to read on their own. assignments are marked very vaguely. unrealistically high expectations for a 300-level course and not a lot of room to do well. would not recommend.

His lectures are very interesting! I love him as a proff but his expectations are insane for an option econ course. I had to do more work in this class than intermediate theory classes. he marks hard and assignments make no sense compared to what you learn in class .. theres no textbook either and his powerpoints are very vague.

He makes his lectures interesting, they are not typical boring lectures. The work load is not that much. if you have him, you will have a good time doing econ201. He is great and one of the best profs for Econ at UofC

Great prof, keeps the class as interesting as he can during lectures even though the material isn't particularily entertaining. Midterm and final were curved heavily, didn't put too much effort in the class and finished with a decent grade.

Oxoby is really kind and approachable. His lectures themselves aren't very instructional, more so used to expand and understand knowledge that you have to learn independently (slides & textbook). Keep in mind that his assignments require more work than other professors, so it's not an easy GPA booster. He also gives good tips and hints for exams.

His midterms and final are mostly written and difficult. He does curve it to make the majority pass. Lectures and tutorials don't help at all. Just read the textbook and you will be fine.

Rob is a super cool guy, he's able to take a very boring class and make it some what interesting. Only issue is that the tests and assignments are mainly written, so it's pretty difficult if you don't understand the material, which you mostly have to get from the textbook.

He is a really great professor! his lectures are really great and funny so I would highly recommend going to class. However, I did feel like we had way more and harder homework than the other Econ 201 classes so I would take another professor if your looking for a GPA booster. Please use your textbook for homework assignments BTW!!

Don't need to go to class, everything that is on his slides is practically copied straight out of the textbook. His lectures weren't useful.
