Overall, he is one of the best professors Ive ever had, he encourages complex thought and discussion. Ive never been disappointed with any of the classes Ive taken with him, and encourage anyone, provided the opportunity, to take them. Just go in with an open mind and it will be an enjoyable experience.

Dr. Cruz is a great professor. With him communication is key. If you have a question contact him or ask to meet with him in person. If you show you care about your grade and have a general interest in the class he will help you. Note: there are no rubrics for this class communicating with him to find what he want is the best way to get a good grade

I found him to be a great guy but personally his teaching style wasn't for me. He loads you up with a ton of information and doesn't really tell you what you'll need for the tests. You have to connect info to get a good grade, his class is not at all about memorization. If you simply memorize then you'll get a c, maybe a b. But he was a cool guy

Anytime you are assigned a paper good luck. He is not clear at all on what to do for your paper is too vague about everything. He also only uses emails and the only way to know how you are doing in the class is by asking him directly. I have had him as a professor twice and this class is the worst of y experiences.

This was not a required class for me - I took it bc it looked interesting and the class I needed wasn't available. Dr. Cruz is going to challenge you and require participation and involvement. He keeps you on your toes but engages everyone. A lot of reading, assignments, tests, and group work involved. Loved him & and the class. Highly recommend.

I regret going to class everyday. If this is a gen ed for you, don't take it. He goes off on tangents in lecture, and never sit front row. Reading the book is the only way to pass the exams.

Class was extremely boring. He lectures with no notes and is hard to understand. He speaks too fast plus his accent doesn't help. Exams are brutal and require hours of studying. You learn best from reading from the textbook, which isn't very well written. He is also very sarcastic and rude which was a bit funny at first, but got old quick.

Great professor. Takes awhile to warm up to him, don't take him at face value after the first few classes. Visit him during office hours. Very well traveled, Marcelo has been all over the world. I would say that you must read all the texts required, that will give you good background. His lectures are fun and engaging and he is hilarious.

He offers a midterm exam (25%) and a final exam (25%) both of which, if you meet with him you will do very well on. He will help guide you in the right direction without making you feel stupid. His lectures are hard to sit through on days, but he maps out the exams for you. He is a very nice & caring professor. Gives extra credit for going to class

Best person to learn geography from because he has lived all around the world. Very nice, and keeps you engaged during lectures. I wouldn't recommend the front row however, because he gets up close and personal. He has a very easy point grading system and offers extra credit often, sometimes just because his football team won!

Amazing. If you are willing to do the work, you will have the best experience. He is very helpful in trying to apply real-world experiences with you. He really does care about his students, just is tough on you. Mainly is tough because I think he know's we are smarter than we think we are and believes we can do better than we think.

Very strange individual. Papers are too long I mean who wants to write 2 papers at the same time? He is extremely in your personal space and he is quite confusing. He likes to talk in different languages in class especially if there are latinos in the classroom, which I am latino and it's quite annoying. It distracts all of us from learning.

Great teacher! He's really smart and can teach you a lot! He definitely has his own sense of humor, which I like, but I can see why some maybe wouldn't. He's super nice and helpful, just can't take him too seriously. Overall, great class, not too much homework but a lot of reading. I thought the reading was interesting, too, though.
