She is an incredible professor. She is a great lecturer but always saves time for class discussion. In class she uses a variety of teaching methods including books, journals, movies, and interviews. It is clear that she is very passionate and wants her students to love the topic as much as she does.

Professor Sperling is great; she's definitely one of the most organized human beings I've ever encountered. Her classes are well-structured, assignments are straightforward, and best of all, she invariably returns papers the first class after they are handed in. She also has a great sense of humor.

Comment:
Professor Sperling is so amazingly smart, and is so good at teaching really complicated, controversial material in an accessible way, without dilutingwatering down political (specifically feminist, in this class) ideas, or misrepresenting them. She has a definite sense of humor and ease, and she's easy to talk to.

Professor Sperling is amazing. She isn't the easiest professor in the world, but she is very clear and willing to help. She has interesting and clear lectures, although the classes can get a bit boring at times because it is mainly all lecture. However, she does a pretty good job of keeping the class interesting. She is a great professor!

Sperling is extremely helpful, intellectual person who cares about you as person. She's funny and a great academic adviser. Her seminar, though, could use some work. We spend the first half of class going over what we already discussed online, and then the second half repeating one another. I like her, but her class isn't my favorite.

She is really interesting (has great stories from studying in Communist Russia) and absolutely knows her stuff. Fair grader. Gives small study questions for each class reading and in MMG she gives essay assignments but for Trans to Democracy and Revolution and Political Violence there are in-class exams (essay format) and one big reseach paper.

I was really excited going into this class, but soon got really bored. She kind of bores me by spending way too much time going over the same obvious stuff we have already talked about online. She takes too much time talking about the same stuff that we mostly know already. I find it hard to stay awake.

Sperling is a great teacher, really knows how to engage students & keep their interest, and she's very, very intelligent. Her class was fascinating, the only class I've taken where I actually want to keep the books I bought for it. Take Mass Murder & Genocide!

Really, she's an expert on communist revolutions and regimes. She gives interesting lecture, daily, very small, homework assignments, and requires group work often. She is a hard grader. Professor Sperling teaches a tough class, but is an excellent professor.

Good teacher, good taste in movies and science fiction, but gives a lot of reading. Book a week. Also a very tough grader, and not recommended for anyone who is going to be a bit sensitive about their grades. She expects a lot, and will draw it out of you.
