TAKE THIS CLASS! I got an A. Make NO mistakes in grammar, punctuation or spelling (she is a text book writer)Tests difficult to study for. Do writing assignments EXACTLY as her slides & you will get A's. Start long report early & ask her ?'s/to proof it. Make sure the report is PERFECT. I took this class 2 years ago, still use everything I learned

Very picky when doing her grading, make NO mistakes in grammar, punctuation, or spelling. Tests are common sense but difficult to study for. Do writing assignments EXACTLY as her slides & you will get A's. Start long report early & ask her ?'s & she'll help. Make sure the report is PERFECT or you will get a horrible grade. I got an A

I got a B because of the long report. Our group got an F or D and apparently nobody scored above a 70 and the report is 20% of your grade. I scored very high and sometimes at the top of the class for the writings and tests, but it wasn't enough. If you get 1 grade higher on the final she bumps you up a grade no matter what, but no more than 1 grade

I took this class from her almost 30 years ago. The class was assigned to write an analysis of a magazine article. Students were supposed to locate the article on microfiche at the library and complete the assignment in 5 days. With 40 students fighting over access to one microfiche the results were predictable: the microfiche disappeared f

Honestly, she is not that bad. I got a B but the group long report sort of screwed me over. I didn't study much for the exams as much of it was common sense. She is a hard grader but if you are good at writing you shouldn't have too much trouble. Seems like a good contact to have for your network in the future.

Flatley is ridiculous, you must memorize her boring book to score high on the exams. Doesn't email you back and grades assignments blindly, she gave me a C on the one assignment saying I didn't use action verbs, I pointed out 10 in front of her and she said she missed them, didn't change my grade...

Don't expect to earn fair grades on writing assignments (especially because you will never be quite sure what she wants from you). Also, don't try to gain participation points by voicing your opinion in class or else you will notice a negative correlation with your grade in the class. Maybe office hrs or TA assistance might help? Nope!!!

This class is difficult. She expects a lot out of you. The assignments are tricky because she doesn't fully explain them, then marks off points for doing them wrong, when she never tells you how to do them in the first place. If you're willing to dedicate most of your time to IDS, take this class.

She assigns Current Events and Homework nightly while also being expected to be continuously working on long reports. This means allot of time will go into this class. I suppose you will learn allot if you don't have common sense. But still, its just a class that will own you.

Lots of work, but learned a lot. Nice lady if you try to get to know her, she will help out people who show interest (even outside of the classroom). For midterm and final, use online chapter quizzes and you will do FINE. Also a long report and some easy in-class writing, overall learned a lot...must work hard for a good grade.

GRDS everyone hard. Told me I had the second highest grade in the class going into the final with a 81.5 percent...go figure. Long report is graded by the Graduate T.A. and he'll tear it apart. Avg. grade in my class was a 66 percent. Nice lady and everything she teaches you will help make you successful in your career. Seek other options fr esy cl

Easy class if you've got an English background, as IDS 290 is all written assignments. Some days are extremely boring though, prepare to review grammar rules like you're in second grade. seriously.

Easy B/C. Never clear on what is expected exactly on assignments / papers. Group Proposal, 3 In-Class Writings, In-Class Quizzes, 3 Out-Of-Class Writings. Very nice teacher but the disparity between in-class lectures and assignments wasn't reassuring. Not an easy class, but everyone ended up in the B/C range. Difficult A.

for a business communication class the professor needs help in communicating what she wants from the assignment. she grades pretty hard so if you want a couple of headaches you should take her class.

This class was very challenging and it took a lot of time. Flatley is a nice person, but she grades HARD. Overall, you come out of the class learning a lot, but probably with a lower grade than expected as well. Good class though...

If you want to be tortured for the entire semester, go ahead and be my guest. Also, if you want to work hard for a C, this is the class that you should take. Otherwise, run the opposite way. She attempts to teach business communication, however, she cannot communicate her points well at all.
