Comment:
Honestly one of the easiest classes if you have discipline. Read the books and take notes. Three papers is what we were graded on you choose which topics from his prompts. He does use PowerPoints and his syllabus needs more work (to be more specific and have more detailed breakdown. Otherwise... very easy and simple.

I am taking this professor right now for HIST 160, Mongolian His. He is a great lecturer and his lectures are very interesting and thorough. He is very knowledgeable in his field and he makes you work for his grade. Thankfully I can listen and listen more to his recordings when I need to. There is a ton of notes to take, exams are straightforward.

This professor is knowledgeable about the course material, but constantly interrupts lectures with his personal political beliefs. He is not fair or objective in his presentation and discussion of the course material.

He is a nice man but not a good professor. Your grade is based on three essays. He makes you buy a book and a textbook. His classes are so boring they make me want to go to sleep in the middle of the afternoon. Unless you are interested in Mongolian history I do not recommend. I don't know what I was thinking.

I learned a great deal from Rossabi, but the balance of your grades teeter on whether or not you read his assigned books, some of which are written by him. These books can be quite tedious. You have to pay attention every minute of his lectures, almost everything he tells you will be important. But he is respectful and he values your respect.

Comment:
This class is really unfit. No blackboard, PPTs, or board notes. Rossabi just speaks the whole time, and throws lots of info at us in a short amount of time. Even if you take notes on the computer, it's impossible to get down everything he says. No choice, but to use whatever you have down, or go to a classmate for the notes. Exams all written.

This professor isn't fit for many of us. Doesn't use blackboard, and there's no ppts or board notes. Speaks the whole time and talks lots of stuff in a short amount of time, it's impossible to keep up and get down all the stuff he says. You'll have to ask someone for the notes or just rely on whatever you're able to get down (whichever way works).

Professor Rossabi is great! He is very knowledgable in his field and makes history fascinating! He doesn't like students who slack off or look for an easy A, but if you show up on time and study for the tests, you won't have a problem. He's also very understanding and will give extra credit if you show that you care.

Do not take him!! He's so soft spoken can't hear him even if you sit in the front. He's very unclear I didn't learn anything. He's very knowledgable, wrote many books but shouldn't be a teacher esp at an undergrad level.

he's a sweet old man he speaks very low but you should really try to listen to his lectures because that is the only way you can get an A on the tests, also reading the 3 books he assigns he tells u which pages so thats good, but for the details on the essays, his lectures help and if u go with what he talks about you'll get a good grade

Professor Rossabi is a very knowledgeable man. He comes off across as very cocky and mocked his QC students for not being as attentive/appreciative of his presence as his Yale students were. He also speaks very quietly so you need to sit in the first 2 rows of the classroom if you want to hear anything he says. His handwriting is also illegible.

Mr. Rossabi is very passionate about what he does. His class was very interesting but if you don't sit in either the first or second row you won't be able to hear him. He is a very understanding man and will give you extra credit if you ask. Be prepared for taking a lot of notes. There are no slide shows and he doesn't use black board.

I took him for East Asian History and I loved it! He is very informative. The only thing you need to do is read the assigned books, come to class on time, and take notes. There were 3 exams consisting of 5IDs (which he does not tell you, but are straight from the notes) and two simple essay questions. In the end I received an A+

All he does is lecture so be prepared to just sit and listen. Take good notes on the main themes because that is what will be on the tests. 1 primary source which is his book and 2 other 100 pg readings. 3 tests- 5 I.D.s and 2 essays in each test which is tough since there's not a lot of time. Easy if you read and take good notes. Don't be late!!!

He gets distracted easily and switches topics from the course materials to topics ranging from his personal life experience to modern day events. he gives vague instructions and comes up with grades subjectively. you can do all the work, memorize his notes, and still get a B. Do not take his class if it is in the city. not worth the commute.

Hard to hear, but remarkably knowledgeable. The class is easy if you attend regularly and take notes--if you aren't willing to do that, maybe you shouldn't be in college.
