He has a lot of knowledge to share with you, but expect it to come out in tangents. His assignments are vague, but he gives a lot of good feedback and room for you to explore your own personal design ideas. His dry sense of humor isn't for everyone and you'll only get out of the class what you put in, but you will learn a lot.

Ian is easily one of my favorite professors in Hunter; he's super knowledgable and wants everyone to do well. But, he doesn't take sh*t. If you try to BS your way through the class, he notices. I think some of the other reviewers tried this. The class is easy, and passing is simple: Just show up and do the very easy assignments. Easiest A ever.

Ian is such a great professor. He knows so much from his many years working in the field. He has a very funny sarcastic sense of humor, so don't be offended if it seems like he's picking on you. He deeply cares about what he's teaching and about his students' success. A real upstanding guy. Ian is wonderful professor and a wonderful person.

Very easy, just take him for the A. Pretty nice guy as well. There is a little bit of writing but it is not harshly graded so don't worry.

You really do not learn much from Ian. If you are just taking THEA 281 because it is a requirement for your major/minor and want an easy A, take him. If you are serious about becoming a theater designer, take someone else.

Ian may come off as mean or rude, but he is an AMAZING person, and funny once you get to know him. He knows his stuff, and has Tony nominations to prove it. Basically, if you pay attention to his stories and advice, never suggest using green(lighting), and know "nothing" from a chorus line, he'll love you and you'll do fine, easy to pass.

Ian is awesome but not for the faint of heart. I find him extremely amusing but if you take offense easily I would avoid him because he will undoubtedly pick on you at one point or another during the semester. As far as grading goes he is extremely easy. You do have to write papers and he gives you a hard time about them but they have nothing to do

Easy A. We would read plays, discuss them, watch a film version, discuss it, write a paper on it, but all the content in the paper was what we discussed in class. Likes to grade high. Has a sarcastic atittude but thats common in theatre so get used to it. He likes to talk. Nice guy.

I think Ian was a good professor, but don't call him "Professor" he doesn't like it. He just have a wierd sense of humor but you can't take those things personal. Also, DON'T BUY THE BOOK! you are not going to use it, just pay attention to what he has to expain!

DO NOT TAKE THIS MAN'S CLASS! TALK ABOUT A COMPLETE BITTER AND TWISTED ****! YES HE'S EASY, BUT IT'S NOT WORTH IT. HE PROMOTES AN ENVIRONMENT OF HOSTILITY IN HIS CLASS AND EVEN HAS STUDENTS TURNING AGAINST EACH OTHER SO THAT THEY WON'T LOOK STUPID. WHY HE TEACHES...WHO KNOWS? HE MUST BE POWERLESS IN HIS PRESENT WORK ENVIRONMENT IN THE THEATRE SO

Prof. Calderon was really simple and clear with his assignments, giving detailed outlines for each. Final is a paper. He does not use the textbook at all so Do Not Buy it no matter how much he stresses it in the beginning. He's very sarcatic and an extreme name dropper but you get to watch movies half of the time. He likes to give A papers.

I agree with others, he's disrespectful, doesn't teach the subject, and doesn't know his students. He seemed to like me in class, gave me mostly As on my papers, and yet gave me a B for the semester for no apparent reason. The only good thing is that his assignments are pretty easy.

He's very disrespectful to students. He takes it upon himself to think he's a comedian and will take any limit to humiliate even if you sneeze. He does love to talk about himself, and is an extreme name dropper. What makes it even worse to take him is that he doesn't remember the names of his students and gives papers that can be vague.

This guy is an ****. I felt like his class was a waste of time. And yes he didn't refer to the book once. His sense of humor is lame and he can't stop talking about himself.

This guy had such an attitude problem, everytime I left the class I was steaming. He's a jerk, plain and simple. He didn't really teach, but showed us movies of plays and then talked about the story forever. He harrassed me about buying an older version of the text book, then didn't open it or refer to it once, not even on the test.

Ian is a wonderful person but he can have an attitude if you bring baggage into the class. If you can't make it - tell him. If you're going to hand in papers late - tell him (just don't!). Get on his good side and you will have a powerful ally for your GPA. He is so knowledgable. Yeah, don't even bother w/the textbook. Come to class be positive!
