Difficult as he makes most of his courses asynchronous. However, super willing to help you out. Responds to emails very fast. I emailed him about a problem and he immediately called me and gave me an hour long tutorial. Strict with grading but has clearly defined expectations and isnt out to trick you.

Heavily example-based lectures, just like 1082. Make sure you actually do the comp. labs on your own. Coriolis will mess you up big time if you fall behind Overall solid prof who has some hilarious stories to tell. I loved every course I've taken with him

The Don himself. The man, the myth, the legend. A lot of work, but you get used to it. You'll drop 20s on his midterms but it's all good because his 100% final is ridiculously easy. A true beauty . He'll be talking about bridges and before you know it you're listening to him explain how the world would be a better place without Arts students.

I truly enjoyed Don's lectures and sense of humor. The only unfortunate aspect to this course was the "adult education" notebooks which were incredibly distracting, frustrating and poorly thought out. Despite this, he tells you exactly what is expected and the 100 percent final made up for getting thrown through a loop.

He comes off quite intimidating and you wont like his lecture keeping policy, but in the end it does help you learn the content. He knows what he's talking about and when you respect him he'll respect you.

Dr. Lyon has many stories related to material, extremely funny, goes very quickly through material, almost to a fault, where he seemingly sometimes thinks students know more than they do. But Lyon is very assertive and makes it clear what he wants from his students.

You will have lots of homework to do, but he teaches the course really well. He provides many examples and explains problems clearly. Lectures can get dry, but he tries to keep things fun and interesting with jokes and (relevant) stories. It is clear that he cares about the success of his students, which is why he asks a lot of his students.

Don Lyon is a hilarious and effective prof. This course is a LOT of work, but it's because of all of the work that was assigned that I did well in the course. Would definitely take this prof again.

Try and avoid him if you can. I find him very frustrating and from what I can tell he cares more about how funny he is than how much you learn.

Explains topics in lectures well, tells you exactly what you need to know for exams, very much a no-nonsense kind of prof. Some dislike having to hand in reworked lecture notes and homework, but I'd much prefer that to something like MasteringEngineering.

He's pretty par for the course. If you're easily offended, his jokes will upset you. But he clearly doesn't care. Not a bad mechanical engineering teacher. Knows the concepts.

A lot of work and tricky midterms. Lecture notes need to be redone and handed in; NOT COPIED; to pass ENGG1082. There are many ways to fail the course, but if you do the work you'll be fine. Final is easy as long as you study and outcomes are very clearly stated. Dr. Lyon has a crude sense of humor at times, but he's quite funny, and he does care.

Tries to intimidate at first, but stay on track with the lectures and you won't even have to study! Take good notes though because he piles on the homework for midterms and exams. Lectures can get repetitive with the same routines of short explanations and then lots of examples and note copying, but his strategy worked well for this class.

No one cares more about the student than Dr Lyon. He had us take an anon survey for feedback about the mechanical program. As a 4th year I can appreciate him trying to fix things in an honestly cancerous ME program. That aside he's your prof and not your friend expect some work. Assignments can be a challenge. Exams are fair though.

I went from really not liking him and his teaching methods week 1-3 to absolutely loving them after the exam. Really fair, tells it how it is, has great lectures probably my favorite prof so far. He's kind of like that strict coach that after the season you wouldn't know what you'd do without. Unfortunately I'm in EE so I can't take him again :(

He has a very frank approach. He lays out the expectations he has for the students, which are designed to allow you to succeed. You have to attend class regularly if you expect to pass the course. He's tough but very fair, and makes the topic enjoyable.

Comment:
Put a lot more effort into the course than just the curriculum. He included "real world" context and anecdotes which made this engineering econ course feel complete. Understand the way money moves and the notation (AP, FP, PA, GA.. etc) and you'll do fine!
