Comment:
He is extremely disorganized and we are currently 3 weeks behind in class. He is also an extremely unfair marker. Tells us in the midterm to write 2-3 sentences per question and expects 1 page per topic after. He told us to write 2 pages maximum for our Ad Report and then says 4 pages is not enough.

I have taken two courses (one a 100 level). I would recommend taking a 100 level from him, but nothing above. Very disorganized, stood me up for a meeting, and very unclear about what he expected. Lectures are fairly entertaining, but I was really most very frustrated with this class.

He digresses way too much during his lectures making them useless to attend, other than for the random quizzes that are thrown in. The class itself isn't overly difficult but there are a lot of plays that you have to read/watch. I would recommend this course.

Prof has a great insight about language. He makes students aware of linguistic genre theory and its relation to culture. This is one of the best english classes to take because it is more about the cultural aspect than the hard core english. It gives the student a change to explore literature in relation to the world. Loved the class!

he takes forever to convey one thought, but other than that the readings and essays were interesting (for the most part) and simple. there are pop quizzes, so if you dont like attending lectures, dont take him

Hm I guess he's a nice guy. If it weren't for the random quizzes I don't think I would have gone to lecture, doesn't seem to be too relevant. Not bad I guess.

His Intro to Issues in Lit and Culture course was amazing. He wasn't funny, and my friend thought he was a dirty old man, but it's really interesting stuff! Many people don't understand him, but he makes perfect sense to me. His exams and assignments are jokishly easy, and the TA's are laid back. It's a good intro course to help adjust to univ.

At first I hated him, but in retrospect he's quite good. He's very smart, eloquent, and although he's a bit of a **** with marks, overall taking a course with him is probably good in the long run.

This is the second class I've twith Coe. He's very disorganized, but in a good way. He's funny, very flexible and accommodating and willing to help you out. Definitely read his comments on papers, as it will improve your grade on your revisions and, more importantly, your writing improves. I can't wait to take another class with him!

extremely disorganized. Received three syllabi, third one in week 4, and it's STILL error ridden. Simply rehashes notes from previous courses indiscriminately. Unhelpful, as many 'hints' reference irrelevant information, or information for other courses.

He's hilarious. He's so aloof during his lectures, very down to earth guy. He prepares you very well for papers and tests. You can tell he is a laid back guy, he tried to allow us to have no final exam but the english dept said no. He's amazing as a TA.

He is only boring if you are over stimulated. He is so funny. His comments about minorities always made me laugh. He knows about everything in literature, so only people who are no bright would ever challenge him. I highly recommend him.

Unorganized and repetitive (as has already been stated). Class concept is interesting but I felt like there was really nothing new to learn after the first few weeks. Worthwhile class simply because it is a B-HUM and W course.

Rick was a lot better last year than this year. Don't know why but he's lost his game. It's a shame too, lectures were a waste of time and disorganized and not entirely interesting.

Rick is a funny guy that makes things fairly easy for his students. Although the lectures can be repetative, you know what to expect on the exam, and are well prepared for the papers.

Because of him, I will never take another rhetoric class again. I'm a speech-writer, a scholarship student, and a smart guy, so I know it's not just me. I really hope he reads this, so he knows there's someone out there who despises him. (Maybe he'll become a better teacher.)

Comment:
He was fun, he got off topic a lot, but somehow it made sense. the paper questions are hard to answer in the length of one paper, really detailed with multiple part questions. He was a little scatered with lectures, jumping from play to play, but it was fine, i found it a really easy course, if you get the right TA.made the plays complexity simpler
