Edward is a great Professor with clear guidelines about coursework. He will assign the readings which are a lot and you will really have to read because test include lines from book or texts he assign. Managed to get a good grade but only with alot of work. Go to class for short answer questions preperation. Also, participate!!

Seems like a decent guy and is obviously extremely intelligent, but the entire grade for the class was based off of seven pop quizzes and two or three essays. The pop quizzes were very hard and only five questions long, so you were basically screwed even if you did the reading. Quizzes missed for legitimate reasons still can't be made up. Not cool.

He managed to make a class about poetry and literary theory interesting, even at 8am. He has a tendency to give pop quizzes and he expects a lot from you, but he's straightforward and always willing to help. He can be opinionated, which makes class discussions hard sometimes, but he's genuinely kind and very knowledgeable about his subject.

Funny, but an early riser. Prepare to read a lot, and some pop quizzes are easier than others. He's actually such a little pumpkin. I don't mind him, but sometimes I feel like it is his opinion or the highway. I learned a lot.

Hes a good professor and you will do well if you listen to everything he says in lecture. Tests and papers aren't too bad. Still, you have to go out of your way studying if you want higher than a B

Good teacher. TEST ARE MOSTLY ON CLASS MATERIAL. If he writes it on the board, you might need to know it. Review your notes before the exam and skim the texts being tested. Tests are straight forward. Nice guy and easy to work with. Papers aren't difficult if you put a slight amount of effort into them.

Very intelligent, but somewhat unreceptive to the opinions of students. 30% of grade based on reading quizzes which are sometimes based on details so specific and irrelevant that reading will not help. One major essay/presentation which is straightforward; another essay with very vague instructions that will leave you prone to error.

Gillin's classes always kept me interested. He knows a wide range of literature and makes the relevant connections. I loved his lectures and his ability to answer questions. He listens and cares, although he does not deviate from his policies. This may be out of fairness so that he does not show favoritism.

One of my favorite professors! He is so nice, and hilarious. A really great professor. He made Humanities much better than I thought it would be. I had a lot less work from his class than some of my friends did from other humanities professors. Definitely take him for Humn 220 if you can!

Professor Gillin is sooo nice!! He's very knowledgeable and easy going. He has us do quick quizzes sometimes on the readings & they're pretty easy. He doesn't put down any of your suggestions on interpreting the readings. The midterm was an in-class critical essay and it was fine. Do the readings and contribute to class discussion & you'll be fine

By far my favorite professor this semester. If you can, take him for Humanities. Friends in the same class with different teachers had so much more work than we did. Three tests, a few small papers, and that's it. Very nice guy, great professor.

Ed is an awesome professor, and great to take for Humanities. As long as you get the jist of the readings, and don't skip class everyday, you will be fine. He draws some very interesting conclusions, sometimes class is boring, but he gets you through it. I highly recommend taking his class.

Ed just loves those early morning office hours so he's kinda hard to talk to 1 on 1. H/O the class isn't that hard - the paper topics are interesting and he works hard to use film clips and anecdotes to break up the monotony that he knows exists. Very friendly and easy to talk to! Feedback on papers is excellent!
