Easy grader, but definitely lots of work. There are other professors that teach this course that require much less work, but she is a very caring professor and genuinely wants you to do well. Class consists of weekly journals that arent super easy and 3 BIG projects (one a group project).

Professor Holslin has been one of my favorite professors I've had at SDSU, especially for RWS. She is very approachable and kind (not judgmental and will answer any questions). The class itself has long writing prompts and a big group project at the end. I preferred this over the multiple long papers I had to write for previous RWS classes.

Overall an easy class , im writing this about a year after i took 2 semesters with her. Shes a genuinely kind woman. Doesnt push her views on you during her writing like some professors do. She genuinely cares about her students and is super understanding for just about anything. Best professor ive had at state so u thought id share.

Professor Holslin has been extremely accommodating and helpful during the pandemic. She gives great feedback so you know how to fix your work to get a good grade. Despite her instructions being confusing at times, she is willing to help and answer questions. If you put in the effort, you will get a B or better.

I really enjoyed her lectures she spent the first 20 minutes hearing about each of our weeks and how we were doing. She gives harsh feedback but its very helpful. This course was super easy to follow along with and the final is a group project.

Not the best experience Ive had but it is a writing course. Modules are dense and include long videos. Journal question can take hours to complete. Best advice, take notes on everything since it will come up in writing assignments...

Organization: -Lecture modules, instructions, and prompts are confusing and inconsistent Materials: -She writes her own content and it is terrible and poorly written Language: -She doesn't write her materials in a simple and understandable language Overall: -If you enjoy suffering and constant headaches, this class is for you. Good Luck, Peers

Dont take this prof if you want to actually get something out of your writing course. You have to do assignments that wont help you with your future while other profs will have resume and letter of intent projects to do. Take a prof who will actually provide you with something you can use in life. This class was nothing but busy work.

Such a large amount of busy work. Its ridiculous that a prof can request so much work every week from students. These assignments took way too long to complete and the discussion board posts were also way too difficult. As someone taking multiple summer classes, I felt like the prof was not taking into account everyone's school and work life.

Too many assignments for a 6 week accelerated summer class. This class took up easily 9 hours a day every day of the week. The projects seem like they have a clear grading criteria and instructions but every assignment I did I always did bad on and I had to completely change the entire thing, even though I followed the instructions verbatim.

Worst class Ive ever taken. Two extremely long journals due every week, discussion post due every Sunday and on top of that she expects you to also complete an essay and learn new topics towards the next essay. Class was filled with the most busy work Ive ever had. She is nice but grades very hard. You have to really work for your grade.

Prof. Holslin made class fun and informative. She took a spin on current events and allowed us to write about it to gain better insight as to what's going on in the world. First assignment is a killer, but with every assignment she is VERY specific as to what she wants. Follow the prompt and you'll be fine.

All I can say is busy work. Every Monday and Friday journals are due and every Sunday discussion boards are due. These assignments are extremely tedious as you need to read a lot and watch a lot of videos. There are about 5 questions in the journals and within those questions there are 10-15 more questions. save your time and take someone else.

I'd highly recommend taking her for RWS305W. You only have to write two essays (4-5 pgs each) and have one group project at the end. She starts off with the hardest essay which makes the class easier as the year goes on. Lecture can be kind of boring sometimes but it's hard to entertain at 7pm... She always let us out 15m-60m early. Really nice too

Professor Holslin is a solid option to take this course. She can be a little unclear sometimes on what she wants from assignments however, if you do your work before it is due and seek her help she will help you. I really like this because it help me improve on my writing. Overall, you write 10 journal assignments, two papers and a group project.

She is backwards. Meaning, she tells you to do one thing then you do it and she doesnt like it anymore. Class work is easy. But pleasing her is hard. Shes somewhat cool and flexible but when it comes to her grading ? Shes so picky and UNCLEAR, dont take her unless you like being a push over. Whole class agreed w this.

TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE. I wanted to do it in person because I wanted to perfect my writing skills, but she doesnt teach you how to write, just shows you exactly what SHE wants and thats what you have to do to get full credit. WASTE OF TIME TO TAKE THIS CLASS IN PERSON!!!!

An easy A, all you have to do is show up to class and show you're trying. She is very passionate about what she teaches so as long as you fake it till you make it, your good. The assignments are fairly easy and gives you plenty of time with deadline extensions.

DO NOT TAKE she is so specific with what she wants. we would work on our project for hours, show it to her and shed tell us to change everything. so we would do what she asked, spend hours working on it, show her again and she would tell us the exact opposite of what she had said before. You will never please her. So confusing and unclear.
