Comment:
Chantal is clearly passionate about what she teaches and her bargaining simulations will teach you a lot. You'll come away from the course with a good understanding of the content. However, lectures are mandatory (participation counted), there's usually a lot of work, and grading is often very unreasonable

Prof Westgate conducted her synchronous lectures with professionalism and always tried her best to engage her students. You could tell that she loves teaching as she is so passionate about the material and takes students' concerns very seriously. Her workload and grading is reasonable and I definitely recommend her!!

Comment:
Ms Westgate is absolutely the worst teacher I've ever had. She gives 0 clear guidelines, and 0 feedback on our assignments. She completely refuses to meet with students even when those are really polite. This teacher is the rudest someone can be!! I dont even get how she still has her job... AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

Comment:
Westgate uses lecture time to talk trash about her neighboring Accounting professor, her past students, her colleagues, the Dean and proudly uses what I'd assume to be private conversations as examples. although she appears to be caring, you'd really have to be one of her favorites. the grading scheme and expectations are unclear. AVOID!!!

Comment:
Expectations unclear. Rubrics largely nonsense. Class members were PhDs who have taught and they couldn't figure it out. Content was interesting and the readings well chosen, but execution was disorganized with little consideration for student success. Group work not well thought out. Atmosphere of fear. Complete disaster. Do not recommend.

Comment:
The bargaining simulation is poorly explained considering how important it is but the worst part is the peer evaluation form. I've never seen a teacher have the groups do peer evaluation forms together, it defeats the entire point. The assignments are bad. The questions are written horribly and they ask for information that was never taught. Avoid!

Comment:
While I do believe that Chantal has good intentions and is passionate about the topic, she is often confusing in her communications (in-class and via email) and unclear in grading criteria. On top of this, there are 3 (virtual) group simulation projects which require lots of out-of-class coordination with team members and are very time consuming.

HI guys, if you are looking to be treated carelessly and unfairly, go with her. And for those who are studying so hard and looking for a good grade, just try to avoid her, cuz she is so tough to those she does not like. Tbh, she might be the most unhelpful teacher I have ever met, she grades you based on her preference. Please avoid if you can

Zero clarity whatsoever, she gives confusing instructions that change almost daily and right before the project is due. Her grading rubic and her final grades make absolutely no sense

Chantal is all over the place. With this semester being online, students need more structure and clarity than ever before, this class caused so much stress bcs of her lack of clarity, its hard to grasp a picture of whats expected of us. She scheduled 3 online simulations literally all back to back, leaving us with no room to breathe. Terrible.

Entertaining and bubbly. Speaks a lot through lectures. Mixes theoretical content with anecdotal content from her work experience. Instructions for class assignments (group and individual) are not very specific or structured. It's easy to miss out on important elements because of this ambiguity and because expectations are not clearly stated.

Pls do yourself a favour and avoid at all costs. Very condescending and sarcastic... Gives assignments with no grading schemes then gives you a bad grade, adds a lot of stress to your day, ppt slides arent clear, a lot of team projects, gives good grades to the ones she likes. Many students agree & its sad. Dont be a prof if you dont like it.

Absolutely terrible. Makes lectures mandatory only to talk about her personal life in class. Unclear instructions for the group project. Grades based on who she likes. If you are not one of her favorites, then good luck. Do yourself a favour and do not take her class.

She is a wonderful prof, very caring and wants her students to succeed. She cares about being the best person and prof she can be. If you want an enthusiastic prof, especially for those 8 am classes, she is a real gem.

My worst experience at McGill. OB is a course with very interesting content, however Chantal succeeds in making you despise it. Very tough grader, you get 0 point if you don't cite specific keywords in your answer, and is extremely vague in her instructions for the group project. I definitely don't recommend taking OB with this professor.

Avoid at all costs. Mandatory attendance yet she talks about her life in class, so you have to read the textbook on your own to do well. Final project criteria is so unclear that it's impossible to do well. Teams receive different info when they go see her. Exams are ambiguous; use the exact words/answers she wants, otherwise no part marks.

Seems nice at first and classes are fun but at the end of the day your grade will depend on how much she actually likes you. clearly has class favourites and very unclear about her expectations for the group project. Most groups ended with Cs. Final exam had nothing to do with slides. Would definitely avoid her!!!
