His class is challenging but absolutely worth the effort. He really believes in his students and expects them to do their utmost. If you take his class, you will watch your writing improve, and your love for the subject grow. He pushes you to find your calling and pursue it with tenacity. Definitely go meet with him outside of class.

Almost all English classes I have taken have made me hate writing. This is the first class where the professor I had truly cared about his students and their writing. One of my favorite classes at Wheaton so far, especially because it legitimately made me want to become a better writer. Davis is awesome. Take a class with him before you graduate.

Six years out of Wheaton and into grad school, I still am thankful for classes with Dr. Davis. His classes are purposefully challenging, but he is thoughtful and genuinely wants his students to learn. Best professor I had at Wheaton, and after having Jerry Root, that is saying a lot!

English was not my favorite subject, but Davis is so passionate about what he teaches that you can't help but want to work hard for him. He's beyond brilliant and so a little intimidating at first, but it is SO worth it. This man has been the most influential part of my Wheaton education.

I'll be honest: he was pretty intimidating and a little off-putting at first. After a week or so, you can tell he's not unreasonable though. I learned more from this class than any other, and I'm definately not an English major. Such an incredible teacher and he genuinely cares about his students. Everyone should take at least one class from him.

Recently I had to pick a teacher who has most influenced my decision to go into education as I pursue my principal cert. I picked Dr. Davis. 10 yrs. after graduating I remember him taking time for me, my writing and my future. Thank you!

Arrogant, self-centered, downright mean. The main project was supposed to be whatever we wanted to write, but he badgered several of us into writing what he wanted. In the end, I just wanted to make him happy out of grade fear. What is he doing teaching this class? I want Dr. Gramm back.

Challenging class, but also one of my favorites. Dr. Davis makes a point of investing in each student and offering helpful feedback. He's definitely not an "easy" prof, but certainly one of the best in the English Department.
