Comment:
He's extremely knowledgeable & enthusiastic ab history. For his honors seminar, we read 2 books that were surprisingly very interesting. His expectations were clear: read the chapters & write short reflections on them each week. The workload was manageable. He genuinely listens to students & provided good discussion points in class.

Kevin was a great professor I honestly miss his class he was always filled with energy. The books he chose were not bad at all. There was attendance and the occasional pop quiz but other than that it is an easy pass! highly recommend.

I never thought I could read 500 pages of dense prose and like it. But Swafford is passionate and he knows why the Victorians are still important. He makes you want to read more and to be able to talk about why history matters.

I had Dr. Swafford for many of my grad school classes. Each one, while subtly different, was pretty much the same. We had to read a lot outside of class. The in-class discussions were always insightful and beneficial. Even when he disagreed with a student, he didn't seem to let it cloud his opinion of them. I feel he truly cared about us.

One of the best Profs at Bradley! This guy knows everything and he cares about you, dogs, and the world. Oh yeah--he's got a wicked sense of humor, though it is difficult at times to know when he's joking. Lots of reading.

This was seriously one of the easiest classes i've ever taken. Swafford is super cool and teaches the material well if you're looking to actually take something away from the class but if you're there just for the credit, it's absolutely possible to pass without ever actually reading anything but the spark notes. He's a v interesting dude and v fun

This class was a pretty easy A, but it was SO dry and SO boring. Straight lecture. Your grade is based on 3 fairly easy exams, 2 extra credit assignments and two projects where you just have to watch a movie and write a 500-word essay. Pretty easy A, barely paid attention, showed up to class every day, turned in extra credit. ended with an A.

Worst prof I ever had. All he did was talk about himself and how he went to NYU - never explained anything, even when directly asked. Was confusing and infuriating, only talked about himself. I think he thinks of himself as better than other people for his educational background, but doesn't have the chops to show for it. Would never take again.

Comment:
This professor does not really care about student input within a discussion. After a student response or point he simply over takes the conversation and utilizes class time for long rants about how he is superior to the general population because he has been to Europe. Very pretentious. He seems to be an english professor only for the aesthetic.

He is dry and the class is boring. He goes the whole time each time and says he will put his power points up online when he never does. He doesn't email back and the tests are essays.

Kevin was pretty easy although his class was annoying because we literally taught everything ourselves for the tests. His powerpoints were extremely boring and I fell asleep literally every lecture. He gives a lot of hints on the tests and extra credit. You have to study for the tests in order to get an A.

Swafford is one of those liberal hippies that is all about peace and love unless you disagree with him. Also, he's really bad about providing assistance and will never answer your emails. Don't waste your time.

I took this class online over the summer. There was a lot of work over the 5 week period, but that's expected. Overall it was an easy class and I never met Dr. Swafford, but I communicated with him through Sakai and I had no problems. Easy class, and nice teacher. Highly recommend!
