Best lectures of any class I've taken at Cal. I had never had an interest in art history before, but this class changed that for me. Her lectures are clear, direct, and passionate, and it's easy to tell that she knows a lot about the field. Yes, she'll call you out if you come to class late, but if you have a sense of humor about it you'll be fine.

Darcy is the Berkeley professor you imagine when you think about Cal. Shes eccentric, well-spoken, and makes bold arguments. Shes well worth taking. Youll learn a lot about art and youll probably get some new vocab words out of her lectures. Shes very intelligent. Tough and abrasive at times but genuinely kind at her core.

Darcy rocks! I was terrible at art and knew nothing about art history but she made the subject so accessible. She can be a little rude if you're late, but she also is extremely kind if you fall asleep in class. She seems to really understand what it's like to be a student, and she cares about her students and their learning.

She yells if you're late (even if ran to class from across campus) and makes you stand in front of the classroom everytime to explain to your classmates why you are late. She picks on people who don't have her hand raised and look unsure. There is also no substance, she throws in complex vocab words to describe artworks but there's no theory.

I knew nothing about Art History going into this class (I thought art was super boring and actually only took HISART11 for the Arts&Lit breadth). BUT, Professor Grigsby's INCREDIBLE lectures, compelling personality, humor, and wit made me fall in love with Art History. TAKE THIS CLASS. It teaches you life lessons that extend beyond art.

Loved loved loved this class. Every lecture was like a roller coaster ride. Energetic, exciting!! Prof Grigsby is irreverent, funny and brilliant. She literally brought the paintings and artists to life. Do the readings!! (there are a lot of them.) I worked my ass off and I hoped for an A-. I participated a ton and had improved. Got an A!

She is fantastic and enthusiastic. I looked forward to attending her very engaging lectures. One downside is the TONS of reading she required for the course. She provides you with a study guide for the midterm and final so study hard and don't get a 'B' like me.

LOVE her. Professor Grigsby is clear, passionate, extremely knowledgable, and a hell of a lot of fun. I came into her class with no knowledge of art history and came out able to appreciate it so much more. The class has a fair amount of reading but her tests are pretty straight-forward and it's completely worth it.

Anyone who goes to berkeley would be missing out on one of the best professors if he or she didn't go to her class. Her lectures are phenomenal performances each time and she as person is so charismatic and inspirational. I would recommend the class just because of her. And it'll truly be worth it.

Grigsby's like the feisty, liberal, somewhat wacky aunt you wished you had. She's a bit sarcastic, incredibly smart, and an utterly delightful lecturer. Her passion for art is a bit like diphtheria: it's highly contagious and has short incubation period. Take it from a bio major with no previous interest in art history- she's absolutely amazing!

This woman is a rockstar - I honestly think she is the greatest lecturer that Berkeley has but she is undoubtedly tough. She will push you to your limits but the experience is undoubtedly rewarding if you do the readings, attend lecture, and put in the effort. Well worth the work - a phenomenal professor. Fun, animated, engaging. Grigsby is truly incredible, I use her as an example of why I love Berkeley. An expert at French art and completely dedicated to public education. Do all of the reading, essays call only on a painting and an author so it will be obvious if you don't. Have to work for your grade but never learned more.
