You will not receive an A in this course unless you spend a large amount of time in his office hours and go to SI sessions. He gives homework every week, but does not teach what is on the homework until after it is due. He does care about his students and likes to help, but you have to get help outside of class.

Not the worst professor I've had, but I definitely would not recommend him for this course. Lectures are very confusing and the important stuff is taught through videos online. Lots of extra credit available if you can make SI sessions.

To be honest he knows what he is talking about however, he is very intimidating. He says things how they are and will not sugar code it. If you are sensitive, or not a good writer and seem to struggle with writing papers I would not pick him. If you do what you are told and communicate with him he will like you more.

I took this class online and I was incredibly nervous about it bc of reviews I read about Rodgers on this website. However, this course is NOT horrible and it is not impossible to do well on lab reports or tests. He is such a helpful teacher and doing well simply means really trying and putting forth an effort. It's hard work but an A is possible

Rodgers really cares about his students but his lectures are extremely confusing. He does reverse lecturing where the lectures are online and you do examples in class. Lab is fun but it is nearly impossible to get As on any lab reports, especially the formal ones. The tests are also kinda hard as well. Also, expect in class quizzes regularly.

AWFUL professor. There are ways to work the system and get good grades but he is awful in class!!! If you want to hear random stories instead of learn chemistry, he's the guy for you.

Good teacher, if you ask him a question he explains it to you. Test are hard, if you don't understand the material you won't do well. Lab reports are hard. You definitely have to work for an A. SI sessions are a good idea because he gives bonus points on your tests for going. Quizzes are easy points.

Rodgers was rarely teaching us something we actually needed to know for our homework and test. I haven't learned anything from him, I've pretty much had to teach myself. He takes about 3 weeks to reply to an email, if you ask in person you will stand there listening for 10min and at the end you'd be more confused than before.

Not very helpful. Takes days to get a response from him and this class was online. The classwork was tough but trying to figure out what he wanted us to complete was tougher.

Dr. Rodgers is a very nice guy, but a HORRIBLE teacher. He doesn't explain anything clearly, even after you ask five times. I have taken other Chemistry classes, and what he teachers isn't consistent with any of them. I had to work extremely hard for a B and I am typically an A student. Avoid him at all costs. He is never on topic and tests suck.

Rodgers was off topic almost 100% of the time. When it came to tests/quizzes you were never fully prepared. He never explained anything well, and when you asked him a question he would answer it with another question. I would not suggest you take his class.

He's a nice guy but should not be a professor. Lectures are pointless and completely off topic. Tests are over material you never see coming. He grades very harshly. I highly reccommend choosing a different professor.

He never gave direct answers. Lecture was very boring and useless. Questions on tests were harshly graded and covered material not discussed in lecture or of great importance. He rarely gave bonus opportunities. The labs conducted didn't line up with the chapter discussed. Luckly, easy points was from online assignments.

Gets off topic too quickly, and for long periods of time. He spent two weeks teaching us significant figures and conversions. It made no sense the way he taught it. I do not go to lecture, because it is pointless. Just read the book, go to lab, do the online homework, and go on quiz/exam days. If you do that, you will get an A

Rodgers was not a good professor . He was constantly off subject during class, then rushed new information in the last minutes of class. Tests and homework were nothing like material learned in class. Rodgers was inconsistent with assigning labs & grading any assignments throughout the semester, making it hard to know your grade until after finals.

Rodgers overall was not a good professor. He constantly was off subject during class then rushed new material at the end of class. He was very inconsistent with assigning labs and grading throughout the course, making it hard to know your grade until the course is over (frustrating). Exams were hard, covering almost nothing we learned during class.

Dr. Rodgers is a very sweet man who had alot of enthusiasm in class. However, he goes very slow which is nice at times but kind of screws you when it comes time for exam. The labs are inconsistent with what we go over in class. Tests are hard but there is plenty of homework so getting an A isn't hard.

Hard class, course work, and exams. Professor didn't communicate well with students via email. This was a online class. Material was not explained well, what was on exams was not on home work assignments. very poor clarity on what to expect students to learn verses what was actually taught

Comment:
Dr. Rodgers is a great person, but his class is hard. Our tests ended up being nothing like we expected because they contained material we had never discussed. It seemed as though we were expected to magically know all this material. Tests are very long. He offers some bonus, but not nearly enough to make up for the points missed. Tough class.
