I think the course is just fundamentally made to take a LOT of your time. They need to adjust this course. Also, even with all your hard effort, don't expect to get a mark higher than 85%. You'll pass the course with this prof if you do the work but it's a huge waste of effort :(

I won't say this professor is bad at teaching. i also never give poor ratings based on my grade (i did ok in his class). HOWEVER, i have to agree with others; that his expectations are ridiculous. The amount of effort i had to put in for this course was dramatic to get an a-. i appreciate a good challenge, but not to the point where i become sick.

Its really important for you to talk to him one on one as well as the TA for feedback on projects. Do not be intimidated by him, he is a nice man! Malik expects his students to be proper business students, so its not an easy A, you HAVE to work for it. Also, expect lots of insulting jokes, he loves them

In his class, you learn nothing from that heavy readings and get poor marks. This class is like saying "YOU WILL NEVER GRADUATE DUDE".

nice at first. his jokes get old quick. doesn't like to be challenged. if you do and win he will ignore for the rest of the term. this is a bad thing cuz participation is 20% of final grade. lacks professionalism - he got angry and threatened to walk out of class and not teach...

After communicated with other 5 groups(8 groups in total), the average grade of the first case was 47/100. Other prof has an average of 70/100. 2 groups dropped this class for getting 40+. The participation worths 20%. However, you will have to hand up/be asked to answer the question/valuable question/TA take notes. Best student gets 50-70% of it.

Prof. Malik really opens the eyes of all his students and allows them to develop their own critical thinking skills. His love for marketing and the success of his students is apparent as he always brings a fantastic energy and charisma that translates into engaging class discussions. If you can take and make jokes, you'll get along.

If you're simply looking to get a high Grade in a course that Professor Malik teaches, perhaps try a different professor / course. He has high expectations and makes you work for a good grade. However, with that being said you will carry what you learn in his class with you for the rest of your life and I think that's worth more than grades.

If you want to do good in 3MC3 don't take it with him. 20% of your mark is participation and its ridiculously hard to get a 70% in it. As long as you have a good group you should be okay but even so he's way harder than other profs. Just know if you say something stupid he will make fun of you.

Hardest marking prof I've ever had do not expect an easy class. Although classes are very interesting and inclusive he at times completely contradicted things he had said to do on assignments in previous lectures. Crystal clear at explaining concepts but poor at helping students to do well grade wise.

He can be a bit intimidating at first but it's only because he expects you to put in as much effort as he does into the learning experience. He is always there to help, you just have to ask. His passion for marketing and for his students sets him apart from any other prof I have had and he has helped me achieve things I never thought I could.

Professor Malik is one of the best professors I've had during my time at McMaster. His course is not easy but he finds ways to get you to think about the real-world implications of his teaching. His lessons transfer far beyond the classroom, and I continue to apply them in my professional life today. I wish other professors followed suit.

Malik's approach allows us to deal with real world problems in a controlled enviroment. No it is not easy to get an A in his class - yes you actually have to try. If you are looking to build integrity, accountability and humility while gaining knowledge and real world experience Malik is the single most important Prof you need to network with.

This is the only prof. that will make you think for yourself, as opposed to spoon feeding you. He has high expectations, which will prepare you for the real world. An A is very doable if you listen to what he says and put the effort in. He is the only professor i've had that genuinely cares about his students. Talk to him, listen, and succeed.

Having graduated 7 yrs ago from Degroote in 2005, whenever I think of a teacher who made a difference in my life, the name Malik pops up first. He doesn't only teach you marketing, he makes you a confident & effective marketeer during the 3 months of his course. Not a textbook follower, but what he teaches remains imbedded in your brain forever.

Good as a prof and very helpful. Didn't like the grade received on participation in spite of preparation. Recommend this prof only if you plan on majoring in marketing. Difficult to get an A.

I was interested in marketing before this course but have lost motivation. Malik is unrealistically difficult and his expectations are absurd. You don't learn anything from him, he asks things of you without teaching anything. Such a waste of money, I hope other marketing classes are better than this.

Seriously the best professor I've had at McMaster in 5 years. His guidance and knowledge can get you very far - if you're willing to listen and sometimes fail in order to understand. If you're looking for inspiration and someone making a difference, look no further than Malik.
