Not only is this class far from an "easy-A" it's not even possible to get an A with the way she grades. but don't reach out to her to try and get feedback, she'll tell you just to read the comments on the assignments. DeWester lacks any compassion or basic respect for her students.

Professor Dewester taught my freshman seminar. The class was nearly two hours long and she would talk to take up most of the time. It was bearable, but the class itself wasn't enjoyable. However, the assignments she gives are fairly easy and she's a great grader. Your grades will be back in no time.

She is strict, but you can tell it's bcuz she is passionate about what she does. If you read the chapters before class & pay attention during her lectures you shouldn't really struggle. She is a tough grader & her syllabus is rather confusing. Comm110 is not an acting class more of a history class (lots were surprised in my class about this)

She was a very nice person, but every assignment was graded so harshly. I forgot 1 tiny detail on a paper once and got -4.5 points. Very frustrating because she is very nit picky. Overall showing up and doing work you still can get an A+

Jan is a wonderful human being, but as a professor she is lackluster. I took this class online and found it extremely difficult. As a straight A student I have never been more frustrated or stressed from a class before in my life. Expect to read constantly do at least a paper a week, and work hard on assignments that aren't relevant.

She is so nit-picky. I've had higher level classes that I've never had a problem in. Especially with writing papers. Her forum due dates are confusing. Forums are just busy work and not interesting. If you aren't seriously passionate about theater, don't take this class. Way more work than it's worth.

This class is a lot of work- but I learned a lot! You will have two assignments due every week! Usually 1 quiz and 1 forum post or a 250 -700 word paper. Teacher is very knowledgeable and I believe fair. Quizs are 20pts and cover one chapter equal to 30 -40 pages in the text. As long as you keep up and turn things in on time you will do well!

i loved this class. granted i am really interested in theater - but i did learn a lot. i took this last year and was thinking of taking the 2nd semester of it before i graduate. i learned a lot an would definately reccomend both jan and the class.
