Comment:
Prof Meyer records/uploads lectures per week. Optional weekly discussion post. Graded only by 2 short papers and 1 final paper (6-12 pages long, double spaced) on topics of social movements/theories in his book. Advice: read the book to get a good grade on ur final essay and write about a movement you're interested in! Advice 2: start papers early!

His personal politics were kind of annoying and he always talked to the class in a condescending way. If you can get passed that, it should be an easy A. He gave my class the essay questions ahead of time. Writing the paper was easy, though that's TA grading dependent. The books assigned were interesting, and you might keep them for future use.

The class wasn't bad at all even when I took it at 8am. Interesting class. A lot of reading. Terms are easy and essay question is given out a week before the midterm/final. There's 1 paper. Meyer is not the easiest professor but you'll learn something.

His tests are based 90% on the readings. One or two of the terms on this tests that you are to identify are directly from his lectures. Read the books, and go to discussions and you should ace this class.

Professor Meyer's classes are always fun- his lectures are mainly used to connect contemporary events with the readings- not really necessary to attend for exams- since exams are based entirely on the readings. Still interesting to go to though; discussions aren't required either. Easy A if you do the reading!

There is so much reading for this class. His lectures don't really coincide with them, either. His midterm and final are short answer and essay. He gives the prompt a week before the test. The term paper was annoying. Discussions aren't exactly mandatory, but they're helpful.

This class was actually really easy- and interesting too. Professor Meyer is very interactive with his students and cares what they think. Tests were based a lot on the reading- but he tells you that from day 1. I got an A with very little effort- face it reading isn't that hard- it was interesting reading too. Some people are just lazy.

I don't understand all the negative complaints. I didn't go to a single discussion section and ended up with an A- in the class. NICE guy, easy class, interesting lectures. He even drops the midterm grade if you have a better grade on the final, he'll just count that! He warns you ahead of time that exam terms are based on reading- no surprises.

This class was hard. There was a lot of reading and that was what the midterm and final were based on. I was lucky and had a good T.A.- beware of this because they are the ones who grade everything. The material wasn't that difficult, there was just a lot of it. Lectures could sometimes be very interesting, but sometimes they were really boring.

Despite the negative comments, the class was really interesting. Lectures only help you think abou the readings and theres a lot of it but it's manageable. TA's kinda useless but Meyer's passion made up for that. If your not one to read a lot I'd suggest you avoid this class as the midterm and final are heavily based on those readings.

worst class ever. You have to go to lecture because the exams are all about lectures. Tons of reading and a long paper. He was nice enough to drop the midterm if you did bad on it if you did good on the paper and final but there is no curve. Lecutres are boring and he is very sarcastic. i would avoid this class

This is the worst teacher I've ever had. Tons of readings and the exams are impossible. His lectures are extremely painful and pointless. If you want to learn, DO NOT take him but if you want to suffer, then he's the one to go to.The class is extremely hard and the teach is extremely stupid. I think everybody in the class want to punch him after

Terrible guy. One of the worst I have had in my 4 years. He doesn't teach and he makes you buy a ton of books for the class. Many of which you read but don't get tested on. Waste of my life.

His class was ridiculously hard. Too much reading. Plus, he is so unclear. His test consists of terms that he never even goes over in class...they're all in the book. He's boring too! He just lectures on everyday crap. Doesn't tell you a damn thing about the tests. His TAs grade like dumb-asses. AVOID HIM!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I had!

This guy's a dick. He berates and insults people in class who don't agree with him, and the TA's graded the hardest out of any professor I've ever had (after nearly 5 years in college).
