I'm a 40yo CIS alum who took many classes with Dr. Gordon. He is knowledgeable but unfortunately he is an EMACS fan. EMACS is evil. vi is the one true editor.

He's very intelligent. He speaks fluent Russian and knows just about everything there is to know about mathematics. This can make things challenging but if you do the problems in the book you should be ok. He doesn't always agree with the author and sometimes even penalizes you for doing what the author did. Overall, hes a nice guy and a tough prof

Prof. Gordon is probably the most intelligent man in the dept. With this is mind, sometimes the smartest people arent the best teachers. There was alot of material that he thought we already knew that we never touched. His programs are easy but his exams were horrible. This is the first class that I could not complete an exam in the time given.

Caveat emptor puts it in his terms best! He is an elitist who enjoys being the smartest in the class and performs for the student regularly. He will do ridicules computations to show off. Watch for his famous line “You didn’t study enough.” His tests are impossible. The rumor is he is retiring in 2008 so wait if you can and don’t take his classes.

I'm sorry, but he has got to be the worst professor in the department. I get A's in his class, but that is ridiculously hard. I feel bad for the students who can't get the grades they need. Dr. Gordon does nothing to help. He may know his stuff, but he enjoys being the smartest one in the room, which is why you won't learn a thing.

the class was kind of difficult, but this man is a genius. has used computers i have never even heard of. his teaching style is good for computer science - teach youabout it and then have you try it on your own. looking forward to taking java with him next semester

He is still the smartest prof in the dept, remembers authors of every book he's read. Even though he's tough, he is the best. He is an inspiration! I've had him for many classes and honestly these subjects stuck in my brain more than other professors' classes. He was very helpful to those who worked hard. His classes are not for lazy people...

This man may very well be the best in the department (followed closely by Frye.) If you take him for class, you'll definitely learn something. The essay questions on his test require a good amount of thought - which is a good thing. Don't know why everyone else complains about his grading, general consensus in my class is that he was very fair.

Do you want to know the highest grade for the first test? 67. The second highest was a 51. The worst test grade was a 7. The sad part is the guy with a 67 cheated. Can we say bad professor? Avoid at all costs- transfer to another school if you have to.

I had Gordon for procedure oriented programming. The guy covers more material then you could possibly take in. He gave no indication what to study. I ended up dropping the course and switching tracks to avoid him (the only difference between the tracks was this course for me). Also very unhelpfull. Have to take him for Java but I know Java well.

When I attended Kutztown from '88 to '92, Dr. Gordon was the most knowledgeable professor in the department, and also one of the best at teaching. His classes aren't easy, but they provide a wonderful in-depth education, and he is very willing to help anyone who is willing to put in some effort. However, if you prefer to be a slacker, stay away.

Good guy, has vast knowledge from years and years in field. If you go to his office, he's more than glad to help you out. Has a reputation for being tough, but contrary to popular belief, this is a good thing. Don't be afraid to take him, you'll be missing out on good oportunities.

I had Dr. Gordon in several CIS classes at the BS& MS level. He's a good person, but not openly warm/fuzzy, and somewhat demanding/critical. He is helpful when appropriate, but certainly doesn't coddle anyone. I felt I had to prove myself to him before he would take me seriously.

Had Dr. Gordon back in the stone age ('80-'82) as a professon of CIS (spec Assembler). Now I am VP of a leading in our area. I never used assembler at all, but can assure you that I benifited from the problem solving that Dr. Gordon had you use. Most times the harder the teacher the harder you try.
