Comment:
His notes tend to focus on strange details instead of the bigger picture of the events covered, if you don't know anything about history at all, you might have trouble here. Study guides are literally 90% of the tests, study ahead of time and you'll make a good grade. He has a good personality outside of the classroom.

I wouldnt recommend Dr. Baltakis. Only as a last resort. His lectures are interesting and he explains well. However, he is very political &stern. He does not post grades, and also grades the essays/ extended response fairly difficult & leaves no explanation. But, there are ample ways to get bonus points. Which makes it very possible to have an A.

I've taken his three of his classes and have admiration for the man, but do have some complaints. If you've taken the class with me, I was the bearded guy with glasses in the front right. His emphasis is on lectures, but invites you to have questions. If you have an interest with history or politics, he is open to on campus discussions with you.

Anthony Baltakis? More like Anthony Balsackis!!! This guy is far too political as it can be very distracting in class. However, this class is not difficult.

Dr. B is well-liked for a reason. His lectures are very interesting. You take a lot of notes. You read a novel & write a paper on it. He does talk about politics too much. Show up, take notes, study & you'll be fine.

He's an amazing professor and knows exactly what he's talking about. He really enjoy's history and loves his job. DO NOT TALK DURING LECTURES OR TEXT!! He is not afraid to call you out in front of a class of 90 students. Also do not ask a stupid question cause you will get a cheeky response.

Lectures are very interesting. multiple chances to earn xtrcredit. Study guides, PowePoints on MyCourses help. Goes over exam day before. Does not ask specific dates on exam (thank GOD) and if you go to class and actually listen to what he says you should pass no problem. Don't disrespect he will call you out.

Know his stuff, but has serious anger issues! Yells at students in class and insults them if they do not do well on a test. Very rude and frightening.

He's amazing! You can tell he really enjoys talking about the history of Louisiana even though he's actually not from here. Basically gives the test answers day before the test and no way you can fail this class. Only thing, I just wish he was more clear about due dates.

Excellent teacher and all around cool guy. Don't sleep/text during lectures because he will call you out and make you leave. Super knowledgeable and interesting. Love his Midwestern accent. Goes over each exam the class before. I really enjoyed him as a teacher and I believe you will too.

Dr. Baltakis is a great teacher. He actually cares about what he teaches and is very knowledgeable when it comes to history. I took 3 of his classes and learned a lot from him. Bring a computer or a copy of his power point presentations and fill in the missing information that he provides during class. He goes over the ENTIRE test the class before

He assigns two books to read. One for a quiz and one for a book report. Textbook isn't needed for this class. He allows extra credit. You can tell he cares about History in the way he lectures. He is a good professor.

He has interesting lectures and you can tell he cares about History. We used the textbook for quizes, other then that, no textbook needed. He assigns two books to read, one for quizes and one for a book report. He allows extra credit as well. He is crabby outside of the classroom from time to time though.

Be prepared to read two books! Book report on one and answering about 10/15 questions on the other one. He's passionate about history and he spreads it on to his students. Be prepared to listen and to take good notes. If you take good notes you'll pass with no problems. Never used the textbook! Not once.
