Lectures can be quite long and tedious. The midterm was absurdly difficult for a 200 level class.

Prof. Ingram's classes are lecture and reading heavy, but he tries to foster discussion, and the lectures are full of interesting information. Come to class having read the readings, and you'll be fine!

This was not a class, just an extended pizza party. The prof took no role in teaching us, grading our papers, or assisting us in our research endeavours. At no time did he provide feedback. For a third of the term we did not even have class. At this level (masters) I expect a lot more depth and richness in courses and from the profs who teach them.

Total mixed bag. Would not recommend. Not clear or supportive. Topics interesting but he is not a great lecturer and marks hard and doesn't help you improve.

I just took Dr. Ingram's History of Interwar Europe. The readings are essential for the pop quizzes and for understanding the lectures. He goes into detail and will not clarify unless you ask for it. Very passionate for his subject and will give help if asked for. Also a fan of the long aside. He likes participation so come to class fed and rested.

So. Much. Reading. He is insightful but he even admitted to being confusing and all over the place. You will do better if you have previous knowledge in his course. I feel bad for 202 students who have to take him in their first year. His midterm was awesome, open book. I would not take him again. good luck.

The Merriman textbook is an absolute necessity! I really like the lectures, even though they're fast-paced (get the slides online!) and I find that his enthusiasm for the material is more than enough to motivate me to go to class. Suggestion: do your reading gradually or you'll get behind before you know it!

Great teacher, knows the material and covers it well. Read the text though. If you're serious about learning something, this is your guy. He has a sense of humor and a love for the subject matter too!

Well... If you like history, want to have a good GPA, and want to not have a heart attack before the final, don't take this class. The final was full of obscure questions. Read the book or fail, it's as easy as that. Good luck!

Wow, what to say.... this class is tough, definitely not a good guy for a survey class that all history students have to take. He knows his stuff, but he teaches it in a boring fashion. His exams are a pain, and I lost all sorts of marks for neglecting to mention the year mentioned in the question. He's tough. Be at lectures, take notes.

Prof. Ingram is a mixed bag. He moves quite quickly and often lets his assumptions about the students dictate the speed at which he lectures. So beware, if you have older students in your class, he will teach to the highest pupil, leaving many in the dust behind. BEWARE: IF YOU WALK OUT OF HIS CLASS HE WILL CALL OUT TO YOU

This man IS the history of France. The thing that impressed me the most was his passion for his subject. Some profs lose their drive to stay in the loop of their specialty, but Dr. Ingram is still very much on top of current issues surrounding history. I did rather poorly in his class, but what I didn't take away in grades i took in motivation.

The man is brilliant. His exams are a nightmare, but the curve can be very generous. His lectures were as interesting as they could be for a historical survey course. If you're a smoker, you'll be jonesing for one by eight. No breaks. Highly recommended.

Wake up guys, you're in university, not high school. School is hard, it is not a center for entertainment or amusement. Prof's are not there to amuse us. If you guys would get your heads out of your ****, you might realize that you are in fact learning someting. Ingram is awesome.

Professor Ingram is a wealth of information on European History, fairly nice guy and occasionally funny. If you are an intelligent student I suggest taking this class, but if you're a hack I would certainly avoid it because his tests are extremely challenging. James Joll textbook is amazing!
