Comment:
The worst decision and experience. Unbelievably hard and unclear about definitions. All the notes you take are from the words he says, no written definitions. Gave off an arrogant vibe. Somewhat unapproachable. Do not take this teacher if you want a good grade.

Professor Rupert is extremely intelligent and passionate about his studies of Russia. However, he's one of the most difficult professors I have ever encountered in any subject. He does not give study guides, nor does he offer much advice about what will be on an exam. He grades very harshly on papers and more so on exams. Material is overwhelming.

His lectures are strictly what come out of his mouth nothing more. You can't use the book for anything basically, and he doesn't have lecture notes, doesn't use blackboard. HARD grader no matter how you study. The information is interesting at times.

Attend class - you can't afford to miss anything that he says in lecture. Expect to take pages of notes every lecture, and to not understand anything. Exams are not easy and you should spend at least a week studying for them. 3 five page papers are due throughout the term based off of the readings. Doing well on them can definitely boost your grade

Arrogant. No matter how well you answer a question on an exam or write a paper --- demonstrating that you know and understand the material --- he will find something picky to use to grade it down

I had him for Hist 341, Russian history. Hes a tough professor but will grade you fairly if you study. You have to attend all the classes which shouldn't be that much to ask because that's how classes were before blackboard. Just write down the key terms. If you are looking for an easy elective this is not the class for you but it is not impossible

Great teacher. He's super intense, and comes of kind of intimidating, but teaches history in a unique way. Make sure to write down all the key terms on the PPts. Also, he doesn't use blackboard.

I took both 102 and 103. Key to the class is writing down the terms he puts on the overhed. Make sure you write down the significance and facts. Go to everyclass. Dont sleep or he will call you out. Study the terms and ask as many questions as possible he likes questions ans he wont embaress you if you have a question. Feel free to ask him anything

Really good guy. He obviously enjoys his job. However, he talks really fast and half the stuff he talks about isn't in the book. Be careful in his class, missing a day could cost you a letter grade.

Really knowledgable man, he know his history! Do not tak ethis class if you think you can miss class and still get a good grade! Note taking is crucial to learning and passing this class. He makes the material interesting, and he gives great study guides letting you know exactly what you need to learn. I found the textbook unneccessary.

He's tough. Real tough. If you don't want to work really hard don't take this class. If you want to learn, however, this is a great prof to learn from. Don't even think about taking other classes while taking his, because you will fail them all for you will have no time for them. Overall, a very nice man unless you don't show effort.

Just don't even think about it. **** and expects way too much from his students. Plays favorites with a few in each class. It's not worth the stress that he will put on you if you can't answer his questions.
