You buy the book on the first day of class. START READING ASAP! It's a lot to read and his exams are pretty hard, but he passes you as long as you take all tests. He mainly wants discussion vs test grades. Great teacher and mentor. Lectures are interesting and he cusses a lot! Cool guy overall.

He is a good professor, but if you are religious DO NOT take his class. He literally said that god does not exists, not to provoke discussion, but just to state his opinion. And I have heard him be demeaning towards religious people, to the point of discriminating against them.

Most pathetic instructor ever. He team taught with two other professors who took the job seriously but he fell asleep during their lectures, attacked what everyone else said using nonsensical arguments, told personal stories with little point, contradicted himself and didn't seem to have done the reading. Bedtime for bonzo! Retire already!

Very, very interesting professor. He has plenty of experience from around the world and his insight is very useful but he is also very IN YOUR FACE. If you really want an "A", yell at him during class.

I have taken a lot of terrells classes, and it is true, his teaching style really is unique! a lot of his lectures really opened my mind about things and made me think a lot more. i found myself anxious to share what i learned in his lectures.some people might find him offensive, but you have to be open minded in this class.

Don't be deceived by the negative ratings on here! Terrell is a wonderfully passionate professor with a UNIQUE teaching style that is incredibly entertaining and motivating! Be prepared for some cussing and good jokes but it is all in the name of education, and the approach is refreshing compared to other professors at EB! One of the best here!

The "ratings" are deceptive, Terrell is simply one of the greatest professors at CSUEB. But he's hard, he makes it a goal to push you out of your assumptions and preconceived opinions. Embrace it though, participate in discussions etc., and you'll be rewarded in grade and in life. Resourced info, journal-quality essays: bring your A-game.

The only thing he teaches about communication is arguement and the class i took had nothing to do with debate. He doesn't lecture and all he wants to do is disagree with his students. It was by far the worst class I have ever taken.

He cusses too much!!! His foul language was offensive and totally unacceptable!!!! I would've loved the content of international communications so much more if he did not throw all his propaganda into the discussion. I will never take another one of his classes.

This class was alright; however, this professor is lazy as can be. All he does each day is talk about the news. There was a book that we had to read with over 400 pgs. that we only went over maybe 4 times in class. There was no applicable application work in class, he expected you to know how to do research work at a Harvard level. Class was boring

terrell changed my life! he encouraged me to question everything. his class made me a thousand times more socially aware than i was before the class.he's very smart and opnionated. he wants to create a disussion in class, but if you speak up, you better have good reasons to back up your ideas.i think he's hot!

First, another user is inaccurate. You do not have to agree with him, you have to support your arguments. He wants you to question everything you ever thought you knew until you are SURE you know what you're talking about. He changed my life. I was already radical and conscious, but he made me feel more passionate about social injustice.

He is very interesting and shocking. He has the ability to grab the attention of everyone when he speaks. He can be a little intimidating but fun at the same time. I advise everyone to watch CNN while taking this class in the Viewing Diversity cluster. If you are not opinionated, work on it. He challenges student to think beyond the norm.

He's hard. If you aren't opinionated and/or willing to speak up in class he's not the teacher for you. Having said that, he'll definately make you learn and broaden your horizons.

He's a tough teacher. I think that he is closed minded. He needs to come out of the closet and stop feeling sorry for himself, as a black man in our society. He either likes you or doesn't and it reflects in your grades. You need to have his same point of view or you're marked down.

Took Terrell for 3 class. By far one of the best teachers on campus. He makes you think, come up with an opinion, and then he makes you question your opinion. Open conversation style classes. He may seem tough but you'll come out the class knowing more about yourself and your opinion on the government.
