I really wanted to like her in the beginning because she seemed really fun, but as the semester went on she just became unbearable overall. There is a lot of reading and kind of leaves you to teach yourself on your own because she doesn't go over it in much depth. Also randomly calls on people to answer, despite it being obvious it makes it uncomfy

She was really helpful in how she explained the material. However, she assigned so much reading and would randomly choose people in class to respond, which personally always made me nervous to go. I like the way the topics were studied as we used documents instead of straight up readings. But, essay readings were lengthy.

Hardest class I have ever taken, especially for a "First Year Seminar" class which should be one of the easier classes to get an A in. She assigns a handful of books and along with them, assigns around 100 pages every class. She jumps all over the place and I cannot tell you one thing I have comprehended from her this semester.

The professor does not let use the bathroom. she is very rude and sassy and calls you out in front of the color. She assigned a whole book(which is 450 pages) to read 2 days before break, and have to write an essay for it by the day we get back... I would suggest switching out of her class, when you see her name.

Lots of reading and expects you to participate in class. Also gives out pop quizzes on the material. Unless you like to read, don't take this class.

This class requires SO much reading for a 200 level class! Dr. DM is a nice lady, but kind of disorganized and forgets to grade some things until you remind her every class. She gives pop quizzes and her tests were quite hard. Few essays. So so so much reading. If you a miss a reading it will be hard to understand the lecture and pass the tests.

Professor Dwyer-McNulty is really caring. She makes sure that you understand everything before proceeding. The lessons are mostly discussions of the reading questions given for homework the day before. Plus, if you take her JFK First Year Seminar, you get to take field trips to the FDR and JFK library+Chelsea Market!

Love Profesor Dwyer-McNulty! She is such a sweet women and very helpful. There is a TON of reading in this class so be aware. The readings are very lengthy and hard. She gives pop quizzes and also gives essays. The work is a lot but she is very interesting and passionate about history.

Prof. DM was amazing! She required a real effort from her students, but I definitely learned the material. She gave great lectures with class participation that really got the point across. She is a very interesting person; I would take a class just about her life and views.

Professor Dwyer-McNulty is awesome! She gives a lot of reading material, but always goes over the key points in class just incase people are confused. Her tests and quizzes are easy if you keep up with the reading assignments, and she drops your two lowest scores! She is very helpful and knowledgable and genuinely cares about her students!

Dr. Dwyer-McNulty is an excellent professor. She is nice to all students and shows a genuine caring for the personal and academic lives of each student. There is a ton of reading for this class. In a Freshman Seminar course, we had a 700 pg. book in addition to about 50 resources that are each 20-25 pgs. long. I truly enjoy going to this class.

Class was very small (9 people), so almost every class was a circle discussion. Assigns a discussion leader every week; discussions were always very engaging. She's a very fair grader and always available for help and feedback. Although the course wasn't my first choice, I ended up enjoying the material! A LOT OF READING

She's a very nice lady and listens to everyone's ideas. She also tries to prove everyone's ideas right when possible, which takes up a lot of time. Her teaching style is basically just the student learning out of the books. I would not recommend this class unless you love history and have time to read every assignment.

Very hard, pop quizes every other week, 2 papers that are hard, midterm and final were hard because she didn't even tell you what to study and lots of reading in 4 textbooks.. Nice lady but I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND anyone to not take this class. You wont get anything above a B.

It's great when the professor has an awesome personality but honestly a fair grading system is more important to me. The "gotcha" system of assessment that uses surprise quizzes does nothing to help one learn or appreciate the subject matter. They ( Rosen & Dwyer) should use assessment methods that foster learning and are not so punitive.

She's not a bad teacher overall, but she has an extremely difficult grading guideline that surpasses a class that's 200-or-so level. Our first test was one in which we had to write, optimally, about a paragraph per three minutes of test time, which is insane, especially for a slow writer. If you can't write quickly, don't take her.

Great prof. She is the head of the history department, and is very enthusiastic about not only history but her students too. Dwyer-McNulty is definitely the best of a slew of chill history profs marist has. Would highly recommend taking her - very lively classes.
