This class is tricky but he sets you up to do well! Also the class itself is very interesting and if you show up and meet with him before and after class he is great!

Mr Ghould is not for students new to college. His classes are very relaxed and entertaining but you have to take the initiative in your learning. Sometimes class lectures will have nothing to do with the reading, sometimes it will. The pointe is if you follow the syllabus reading's then the exams and essays won't be an issue.

When I took Dr. Gould's ancient philosophy course I didn't know what to expect. His course is lecture based and he also provides good notes along with the readings for the class. His class was one of my first at Metro and I think by taking his course gave me a good start. In the course he focused mainly on Plato and that was great, can't get enough

He literally couldn't get a coherent sentence out of his mouth if his life depended on it. Dear god please don't take his class. He makes inappropriate comments CONSTANTLY and can't teach. Plus he gives you no feedback so you won't know what your grade is until the end. I thought it would be fine for the easy A but.. god I regret taking this class.

Didnt really learn anything. He wasn't the most professional, often made inappropriate comments. No tests, just two essays that I got no feedback on. Kind of a waste of my time. Easy A, I guess. If you want to learn philosophy look for a different professor.

Going to his class was a complete waste of my time. The tests aren't too hard if you have kind of an idea of what's going on but every person in my class had absolutely no idea what he was saying or teaching 99% of the time. Do not take this class if you actually want to learn philosophy. He was probably a good professor at one time but has lost it

I think Tim must have been good at teaching at one point in time as his assignments are excellent and I learned a lot from them. However it seems he has lost his ability to make connected thoughts in a way that is understandable by the majority of the class. He seems arrogant, proud, but also really intelligent. He digresses way too much.

Has a deep thorough knowledge of philosophy. He can give deep, immense insight to philosophical concepts. My biggest complaint was just that I wished I could have finished this class being able to regurgitate the philosophy of Plato and Aristotle when that is far from the outcome.

Gould loves what he does, but he expects a lot from you. Only gave 3 tests and a paper, but if you only go off of lecture you're out of luck. You need to read or at least look up summaries to understand the slightest of what he is saying. He goes off topic easily because he loves to tell stories. If you have strong opinions, don't take him.

Timothy Gould is a genius. Most people do not understand genius so it is difficult. He has love for education and might be the smartest man I know.

Professor Gould is very knowledgeable about philosophy and you can tell he is very proud to teach it. He does enjoy it when the class participates, but sometimes has a tendency to wander off the topic. At first, I wasn't sure about him as a professor, but as time went on I really liked him the more I got to know him.

This class was the biggest waste of my time. We didn't do even half the things he planned for us to do. Nor did we read all the books. He spends his whole time ranting about who knows what and I had no idea what was going on. It's very easy but it's a big waste of time and money.

I was very interested in philosophy, until I took this class. Gould was a horrible teacher. He was very unorganized, he would rant about tons of random things (I think I learned more about his life than about any philosophy topic). Gives the answers to test questions before test. If you want to learn philosophy, don't take him. Easy, but bad.

Dr. Gould is a remarkable professor who has a tremendous amount to offer but requires students to be engaged to get what they should out of his courses. If you are the type of person that sits back and listen to lectures, skip his courses. However, if you are the sort that engages with your professor and class, then you will get be rewarded.

This Professor is very hard to understand. He is always off topic and talks about things that do not pertain to the course at all. I did not understanding his grading system either. He is very confusing. Puts things on the test that you never have seen before. Not much work assigned during class but thats why the tests are hard.

Comment:
By far the most mind-numbing, off-topic classes I've had; the professor rarely discusses anything relevant tto the class, does not grade according to the syllabus, and seemingly punishes students who would earn the top grades in any other similar class. I would not recommend Gould if you have any grasp of the material.
