Comment:
My Calc II class was very pleasant. Prof Singer is really passionate about Math and helpful, the homework translates to the exam questions (sometimes exactly), and the proofs he asks for in the exams are right out of the book and easy to understand. Just because he isn't an easy A doesn't mean he's bad. Just do your homework and practice a lot!

He isn't very easy to understand. Really, you're better off reading the textbook in class, because he also tosses things in that aren't in the book. Like most calc classes, you learn things you will never use again even in calculus, but it's made worse by the fact that there's no way to learn them other than from him. He assigns crazy problems too.

Teaches through proofs. Gave homework once a week which wasn't bad but barely did anything to raise my grade. Class was boring and I learned very little.

took him fall semester freshman yr for calc 2. went in LOVING math. killed my gpa (& scholarships) right from the get-go. now I have to take a class that actually counts for the FU math core and cringe at the thought of basic integrals. brilliant prof, and adorable if you're into the einstein look, but not my recommendation :-(

Prof Singer is really nice, and obv. brilliant in his field... but we're not all princeton alum. Had him for calc II, placed there from exam, never took calc I or AP (just honors in H.S.) & seriously regretted taking his class. He's obsessed with Stewart and teaches w/ proofs. No special exceptions. Used to LOVE math, now rethinking my major.

He is a gem of the math department at Fordham. He does not tolerate mediocrity, nor imprecision. He is the expert in his field of topology, but if you are missing prerequisite knowledge, or struggle with mathematical precision, don't be surprised by a C, D or F. The department doesn't want people majoring in math who can't handle it.

He's sweet and means well but not a very good teacher. I didn't take calc before this and i really struggled. He's confusing and his lectures are unhelpful.

He's awesome and an extremely sweet man. Homework is NOT at all long and really helps you to understand the material. Yes, he does over-explain thing a bit, but only b/c he wants everyone to do well. When you go over your notes, everything becomes very clear. HIGHLY recommended, esp. if you're dreading Calc (like I was).

Professor Singer is such a nice professor. Sometimes he over explains problems to the point it creates more confusion, but I liked his class. Attendance is not required, there's 1 hw each week, and the tests are not that bad. I got an A- in the class. If you do the hw and pay attention in class you can get an A

I am a business student minoring in math because of Professor Singer. He is an extraordinarily brilliant and capable professor, and a very generous grader. His enthusiasm for mathematics is inspiring. The class requires a considerable amount of work but it's well worth the effort. An A is definitely attainable to the average student.

i had singer for math methods in business II. he gives a bunch of homework, each one takes 30 min to an hour. the problems in the homeworks are identical to ones he goes over in the lecture. he gives three exams. 95% of the exam is made up of problems he's gone over in class and given for homework. he usually puts a tough five point question last.

This class gives a retarted amount of homework. Visiting the professor after hours is near useless as his lessons there are as incomprehensible as the proofs he does in class. STAY AWAY

Excellent professor. I entered his course just hoping to get a physics requirement over and done with, but I left with an interest in mathematics that I never had in high school. If you keep an open mind to math, you'll enjoy Professor Singer. I especially recommend him to students with an interest in physics - he integrates it a lot!

Homework is ridiculously difficult, and is comprised primarily of proofs that take a long time to complete. I recommend not taking this class if you don't want to devote a lot of time and effort into homework.
