It seems impossible to get anything better than an A- in his class. He is very unclear and vague - especially through online instruction. People only recommend him because he is better compared to the rest of the profs that teach either sophomore or senior seminar.

Everyone just sits on their phone/computer and some people participate in discussion each day. Essay grading is very linear, either you write the specific points he is looking for or not. He is not looking for original thought and will give you a terrible grade even if you are on topic and have strong evidence behind your arguments.

Intelligent, knowledgeable professor. Class is a mix of traditional lecture and class discussions. No homework or quizzes to prepare for exams: you can only look over your class notes and hope for the best. Exams are essays, which are graded harshly. If you are an A student, don't be surprised when you can't do better than a C or B. Ruined my GPA.

Overall a good class. The amount of reading was fair, and so was the grading for discussions and papers. He is passionate about the subject matter and does well to facilitate discussion. Sometimes he can push his opinions on dissenting individuals, but disagreeing with him doesn't hurt your grade. In retrospect, it was a pretty interesting class.

Tries to get interesting discussion going, although it really depends on your fellow classmates to keep it going. Good professor on the whole.

Class is mandatory but not hard. I usually read the case studies for the first part of class and talk about them for the second half. CAKE!

Comment:
Not the worst professor, but classes are structed strangely. First half is pointless lecture while second half is "discussion." Usually the discussion is hijacked by idiots while intelligent people don't really care or don't feel like saying much. Decent grader, but exam questions are so vague! Kinda hurt may WGA, but that's a SSCI class for ya.

Average, graded easy on the essay and hard on participation. Class is pretty much the same no matter who you take it with.

Good prof...listens to the debate and lets you have and form opinions about the events that have taken place...and for middle eastern history that is hard to find.

Eh...not a horrible prof, but not the best. Grades easier than most on papers, you can BS and up with with decent marks. Midterm and final are random multiple choice questions. Won't ever give you a straight answer and will ramble on and on Lectures are pointless, but he takes attendence. eh.

Bleh. Turns a bullsh*t class into a GPA downer. Lectures are incredibly boring and don't help at all with the tests. Test questions are vague and often have multiple answers. His opinion is always right. Take someone else if at all possible!
