He is an amazing prof. His use of examples was really helpful in understanding concepts. There is no math in this course! All of the short answers on the midterm and exams are given ahead of time. The textbook is used but you are only asked about things in the textbook that were the main focus -dont worry about all of the examples. Easy course.

very disorganized and half complete notes. Talks around the notes and doesn't explain them. Needs to update notes, they havent changed in years! I found him pretty boring to listen to and it was hard to understand what he was talking about. If you can deal with little organization then you'll be fine...

Wonderful lecturer, makes 'Basic Research Methods' morning lectures entertaining. Uses examples from his own research to demonstrate concepts, which makes him seem more credible. Enthusiastic about psychology on a whole, as well. Dr. Wood pales in comparison.

Comment:
Holmes is a great teacher - I found that his section of 291 was the more difficult. He does a good job of creating notes that you can follow in class - and uses lots of examples to demonstrate concepts. Test questions are fair - you only have yourself to blame if you do poorly in this class.

He's a great prof. Interesting examples, especially from his relationship studies. He's funny and a good sport about the jokes Wood makes. I loved the overhead slides of him.

He always provides helpful notes prior to class so you can focus on the lecture and he uses interesting examples from his own research. The concepts he covers are sometimes difficult but he does as well as possible given the material. He's a cute little man with an incredible brain and a great sense of humour.

Comment:
dr. holmes is the 2nd worst prof at UW (wood, the co-teacher, gets first prize). The classes were incredibly boring, and he would go into great depth about a concept, then into even greater, (enthusiastic!) depth about an example but never show how they might be related. did put notes up online though.

He is clear and easy to understand. He provides notes, so you can pay attention in class and not have to scramble to get stuff down. I found his research on relationship psychology very interesting and his examples helped me to grasp to material. He kept me awake at 8:30 A.M.

Great Prof, makes the class interesting. Lecture notes are given to be added onto in class, otherwise they don't make sense. Definately want to attend regularily if he's your prof for 291
