Solid choice for intersession! Dr. Potter understood that we weren't English majors, and didn't force an obscene amount of work on us, and graded us fairly. He does make a lot of weird comments about bad roommates though, maybe some horrid past experience?

Took Creative Writing online with Dr. Potter. He's kind and encouraging, and the class isn't hard per se, but it can be difficult to ascertain the specifics of what you need to do to truly succeed. In terms of the online course, the syllabus is basically all you get for story/poetry instructions (no rubric), so reach out if you need clarification.

Dr. Potter really cares about his students, he wants them to succeed, but he does expect you to put in the effort. He tries (and succeeds) at making his lectures fun and engaging while giving you the information you need to pass the class. Do the work and you'll be fine.

He is a very enjoyable professor who makes the literature interesting even if that isn't your subject. You will have to write, but not exhaustively and there is a healthy variety in topics and books you can select.

Dr. Potter is very humorous and has a good way about him. You learn a lot and he values students' input. The work load isn't unreasonable, but grading is pretty strict. Overall the class was enjoyable and I learned a lot.

He is a good professor. I would not take him again and i was not very interested in the class. He makes the books interesting though. He does quite a few pop quizes but usually sparknotes is enough.

Dr. Potter is a cool guy. Although his tests are hard and we breeze through really deep works of literature, the class isn't too bad. He is a tough grader, so don't take him if you are concerned about keeping a 4.0, but overall, I would say he is a very good Professor to take while here.

Wonderful. The only limitation becomes the students however, he doesn't tell people that they're being stupid even if they say something that couldn't possibly be substantiated by the text. By far the best person teaching in the English department.

Comment:
Poetry - TAKE NOTES IN CLASS! It may seem pointless, becaue you are just reading poems outside of class and then sitting and discussing them, but TAKE NOTES OR YOU WILL BE SORRY. His exams ask extremely detailed questions about individual poems, giving you only the title - you have to know them all really well.
