I've taken a number of courses (solfege, advanced and beginning conducting, choir) at Grove City with Dr. Browne, and he is very knowledgeable in all the areas that he teaches. He really tries to reach out to students and get them to perform their best. However, he does not accept messing around or tardiness. He's a fun loveable guy.

I have him for Choir. He's great. Though if you can take being told you're wrong, don't join choir. He says himself that he rarely compliments people. He often picks on the sopranos and altos, but only when they really are wrong. Overall he's great and is tough enough to make you better.

Incredibly intelligent. Endless supply of knowledge that every musician should try to take advantage of before graduating. He can be very elitist at times though but he does not do it to be mean or spiteful, it is simply his personality. One of the best profs at Grove City without a doubt.

I understand that Dr. Browne is a fantastic musician and a great choir director, I am not contesting that, but he did not attempt to help me at all. He told me I was an embarrassment because I was making him look like a bad teacher.

Dr. Browne is a wonderful guy, and great for all things choral, but I was very disappointed with him as a voice teacher. All his background is in choral conducting, so he really does not have much to offer a serious voice major. Opera isn't an option. He steers everyone towards virtuosity in ensemble contexts, never solo.

I had Dr. Browne for 1 semester of freshman theory, choir, and 4 semesters of solfeg. He's a great teacher, and knows his subject matter. He can be intimidating at first, but he's actually pretty laid-back, and can be funny. :)

He is my hero. A breath of fresh air in a very bad music department. He is a good man, one of the best I know...and in addition to his integrity and professionalism he is one of the most knowledgable, intelligent and effective educators I will ever know.

I looked forward to chapel choir like no other class I took at GCC. Dr. Browne chose challenging, but interesting pieces. Some of my favorite college memories are from that class. He's awesome and I'm glad I had the opportunity to sing in his choir.

if it was't at least a little challenging then it wouldn't be good. dr. browne makes us work- so sorry for those who are opposed to the idea. his selection of music is completely appropriate for where it's performed, and he seriously knows his stuff.

I think these people rating Dr. Browne need to expand their musical horizons a bit and get used to the fact that not all music is CCM. Your 'music' wouldn't exist if not for this 'obscure' latin music. Show some respect. Anyway, Dr. Browne is an amazing teacher: very clear, firm, but still with a great sense of humor.

How can it not be easy, its choir. My only gripe is that he is the director. For someone who is not even a real professor he sure is arrogant. Can't stand the guy and his showy ways during Christmas concerts are disgraceful.

Dr. Browne is hands down, my favorite professor at GCC. He has taught me more about music and excellence than anyone, but my favorite thing about him is the compassion that he has shown me. One of the most excellent musicians I've ever met...one of the most excellent men I've ever met as well.

An extremely humble, intelligent, caring, servant-like man. His desire for excellence is rare in today's world - he is the best teacher I've ever had, not from the lecture info, but from his actions and living a thoughtful, good life.

it pisses me off that all he picks for the choir to sing in chapel is this obscure latin crap. our choir sounds awful, not because they're untalented (they're not) but because of his selections. i skip every chapel/concert they give because of that.
