Comment:
Professor Palmer is hands down the worst professor I have ever had at Penn State. His exams are ridiculous, oftentimes including questions on throw away comments from lectures. To go along with his exams, he is genuinely not a very nice person. If you want to keep your sanity I would avoid him at all costs, but if you cannot good luck.

Great lecturer, class content is very engaging. However, his paper instructions are vague and he's a tough grader. He do be kinda mean.

I loved Palmer's class. I took the honors version of PLSC 14 with no background in international relations, but he presented the information in a really interesting manner. Highly suggest reading the textbook and articles as he assigns them because the work can pile up easily. It's a hard class but I worked and got an A.

This class was an insane amount of work. Three textbooks, and you read all of them. If you take extensive notes during his lectures and of the textbooks, you'll do fine. I had to put more effort into this class than into my other four classes combined, and I ended up with an A.

He says that reading is needed for class discussion but then never really goes over it . You need to read the books for the tests and take notes. He is a very hard grader and is horrible at explaining how he will grade your 12 page. Also do not expect him to post any grades online or tell you what your grade is if you ask. Over all DO NOT TAKE HIM.

Definitely an interesting teacher. He's really smart, but bad with technology. The books are informative and interesting if you enjoy the subject matter. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like studying war. Test are all writing and you write a 12 page paper. You should like writing. Easier than I thought it would be, but a good class.

Contrary to what was said earlier, you do NOT have to read the books-- he assigns an enormous amount of material and hardly discusses any of it in class. Take notes studiously. He gives blue book tests, a combo of short essays and IDs. Don't try to BS this guy, answer the questions as directly and specifically as you can.

Very unfair grader, he only gives out a certain number of good grades for sure. Sometimes he talked in circles and you didnt know what he was saying. Once, he realized his lecture was absolutely wrong and he decided to end class by saying forget everything I said today, see you next time. Avoid this teacher at all costs. Your GPA will thank you

Palmer's class is really fun. I really enjoyed it most of the time. He was great, gave good explanations of the material and his work on the subject. He's clearest professor I've ever had though, and many times I found myself wondering what the hell he was trying to say, but over all a good class.

Palmer is very entertaining and loves what he teaches, but I think he's one of those teachers who will only give out a certain number of good grades. He can be confusing and requires a lot of reading. He let me redo a class presentation after discussing what I could improve and then gave me the same exact grade as the first time around. Kinda tuff

I had this guy several years ago during the McCarthy-ite scandal. He convinced himself that everyone cheated on the midterm, and conducted a witch-hunt to find out who did ("rat on your friend, or else"). He attempted to expel all the students he "caught" from the department. This man has serious problems. Avoid at all costs.

TON of internet readings. Grades fairly, but the material was a lot of theory and probably boring for someone with less than a huge interest in poli sci theories.

Nice guy who tries real hard for his students to understand. Out of his element with game theory. Un organized and baffled. No approach. Recommend him as a teacher in a different subject

I had Palmer for my freshman seminar, game theory. concepts were very difficult to understand; and he never warned us that the class would invovle so much math;he's not very approachable; put things on test he said he wouldn't
