Great person, terrible professor. Full of knowledge but tends to forget how hard chemistry can be for students. Doesn't let you know your grade for the class until the end of the semester which is very stressful.

Bauer is a really nice guy, and he's very smart. The only homework is ALEKS, which is pretty tedious but the tests were scaled a lot, so my final grade was ten points above what i actually earned. If you study youll be fine

He teaches through lecture so if you don't show up, you're probably going to fail. Most people complain about him, but he's not that bad, if you pay attention in class, do the online assignments each week, study, and seek the help available to you if you need it, you will do fine in the class.

Bauer is a nice guy, but is WAYYYY too overqualified to be teaching intro level chemistry. He has trouble understand how hard chemistry can be, and assumes everyone in the class took AP Chem in high school. Exams are tough and worth almost 60% of your grade. The only saving grace is the massive curve at the end.

Hes just a bad professor. He doesn't explain how to do problems he just does them then moves on. Not only that but he hardly goes over equations he goes over concepts.

Lectures do not teach you a lot. I learned it all from sapling and aleks and studying past exams. He scales everything very well. Really smart man but terrible teaching methods. Also you have to have at least two friends in the class because you do group work everyday.

Comment:
Awful Lectures, he presents his material in a way that is unorganized and incredibly difficult to follow. Not only are his exams very unsimilar from the exams given by the other chem professors but they are unsimilar to the material he covers in his lectures and the material given as homework on the online resources. He makes it very difficult.

His lectures I find aren't helpful. I mainly learn from the required class programs ALEKs and Sapling (each has certain assignments/objectives due each week). Tests are usually pretty difficult - however they are scaled pretty heavily. Uses clickers and easy group reports which may mean he records attendance.

Many people thought that Bauer was tough but I did very well him. Make sure you do the online homework throughout the week so you don't cram it in the last day. The homework and practice tests are very helpful the exams. If you do all the prior years exams that he posts on blackboard you should do fine on his exams. Also, PLTL was a great help.

Be prepared for zero grading transparency and to be treated like a child. I hated this class. Best not to be on his bad side.

Bauer's tests can be difficult because he really makes you apply the knowledge from class. But as long as you go to class, and complete the online homework, you should be able to do really well on the exams. He also posts past exams to help study so definitely go through those. It was my main study tool.

Okay, attend class, take lots of notes, and ask lots of questions! Especially take advantage of office hours and practice exams. Bauer was great! Chem was really hard, but if you're dedicated, you'll make it.

Bauer expects a lot out of his students. You will have to devote a lot of time to homework and studying along with going to every lecture if you want to earn a high grade. His exams are wicked hard and confusing. He does scale grades at the end of the semester which is great

Take all your lame chemistry jokes and barium. I can't express my frustration with him in 350 characters, so just take my word that you'll be better off with another professor.

He will do practice questions and problems in class and then put the most opposite things on the actual exam. His questions are very unclear and difficult. The class average for the exams are usually a D or lower. He makes complicated things EXTRA complicated! Horrible experience

His tests are wicked hard. You have multiple online assignments a week. If you don't understand one topic, too bad you're already learning 3 more.
