Not a good professor. Do not take him if you want an easy gen ed. There's a group project which he gives you a week in advance before presenting. The midterm and final were both papers which require you to read the texts. There is also a book review and he has yet to email us the grades. He is the most unorganized person I ever met and no notes.

Dr. Friedman is a laid back guy. His lectures are not very organized and he can seem a little confused at times. He makes corny jokes a lot (I thought he was hilarious). Don't be confused though, he is a very smart man. You cannot just BS your papers because he will know. There were 2 papers and a group project, not very hard. I'd take him again.

I was very interested in this class before taking it,but as a POLI major I found Dr. Friedman lacking in both his lectures and organization. He is prone to tangents and readings while crucial for the papers will never be discussed in class- which itself serves no purpose.I personally will not take him again nor would I recommend him to anyone else.

Laid back cool teacher, just come to class. No exam, just 2-4 page papers on whatever work he assigns. His lectures do not make sense if you don't read the text but if you atleast listen to the lecture then the reading makes a lot more sense. Don't listen to people who say he is whatever politically, im pretty sure he disagrees with everybody

Coming from a serious POLS student, Friedman is one of the worst professors I've had. His class was almost 100% sleep-inducing lectures. It is nice that he doesn't test, but you might as well not go to class (not an option) for all the help class time is for writing the papers. I would never take him again.

Had him for LA Film Study, I see the rest of the comments on here and see that they complain about this prof. You are in college people. He is a great prof, but does not give out grades. He does not force his "socialist" vies on you as previous stated. Anyways I recommend taking him. No tests, 3 easy papers, and non-boring lectures! Easy!

Tons of reading, 2 papers, 2 oral presentations, and long lectures. I had no interest in LA so I thought the lectures were very boring for the most part. Honestly I did not think the class was that bad and I found that after the first paper I could simply reference the index for the final paper thus reducing the amount of reading I needed to do

3 papers and lots of reading which was only helpful on the first paper. The films are the main focus and the paper topics were extremely vague. Overall this class is focused on long lectures and some boring films with the exception of bananas.

Not a good professor. The no test policy is nice but he doesn't tell you when anything is due and you end up just being really bored in the class. Attendance is mandatory which just makes things worse, avoid Dr. Friedman

He's a useless professor, shows up to hear himself talk and he's the only 1 in the room comprehending what he says. No tests, only essays, for which he doesn't clarify due dates. When I tried to speak with him after class or through email he was condescending & rude. Glad he's out of my life, don't take this class if you want what's best for you.

I occasionally disagree with my professors, but things always remain respectful and cordial. I withdrew from this course citing my overcommitment to too many projects, and he simply dismissed me as the weakest link in the class, even though I was the only student to have previously engaged the material at hand. Very rude and very inconsiderate.

He is so boring at I agree that he can not convey a point to save his life. He is the most boring teacher I have ever had and he has a very strict attendance policy. He gives most papers Bs. He won't give an A as far as I know. If you want a B take his class and BS the whole way through. He's BORING and I will not take him again.

I agree with the people who've said he comes off as not supportive of other opinions, but basically he just won't tolerate lazy thinking. If you can really support your opinion he won't ridicule you. But be prepared. Also, 90% of our reading materials were neo-conservative how-to guides, so you can't really say he didn't give the other side a shot.

Ugh. Dr. Friedman is obviously an extremely intelligent man but he couldn't efficiently convey a point if his life depended on it. I'd often sit in class and marvel at how completely disjointed he came across. No test policy, which was nice, but can't really say anything more complimentary about the course. Would avoid if given the chance again.

This guy is the worst teacher I have ever had. His no test policy is nice, but if you disagree with his liberal points of view, you will not do well. Refuses to give feedback on your papers and is perhaps the most boring man I have ever listened to. I got a B, but I would have rather had an interesting, nice professor that was harder than this a--

Friedman requires in class participation to do well. The problem is he loves to hear himself talk. You must interrupt to get a word in edgewise and he runs on and on. He knows his stuff but can't stay on subject. He is hard to follow sometimes. He admits time management is NOT his forte. Seems to be a nice guy before and after class but is aloof.

I've taken 6 classes with him, loved them all. published/experienced guy. you must have an intrest in the field to enjoy him and his classes. cares about students when they aren't rude, which most were. no tests, 5 papers, attendance policy. if you're a lacs or polsci person, strongly recommended.

The guy is a jerk. No tests which is nice, a couple of short papers and one long one. Not too bad. Lectures are deadly boring, he's unorganized, and likes to hear himself talk. I had to miss some classes for athletic events for the school, he'll still give you a hard time, but he can miss just fine!
