He's a very good lecturer and is willing to go over topics as many times as you need as long as you ask. The material is very straight forward. He skips some of the simpler steps but as long as you have the textbook to fill in the gaps you'll be fine. This class was VERY Mathematica heavy which actually helped me understand the material better.

I would definitely take him again. Great professor, makes lectures interesting. Will take the time to help you. Exams aren't too difficult and he makes sure you are very well prepared before taking them. I would highly recommend taking him over all of the other professors.

Barry is an absolute gem. Physics is naturally boring but he makes it interesting and entertaining. homework counts for a lot, so do it. take notes in class, as tests are usually based on them and the practice exams he hands out. he is always willing to help anyone no matter what and is super understanding. truly wants the best for his students

Professor Walker is really hilarious. The class is really straight forward and he gives you a ton of extra credit. Read the lecture notes after every class would help you a lot since the exams are based on the notes. Take advantage of the extra credits because they will help you a lot. He also doesn't use a textbook so you don't have to worry.

Dr. Walker is a professor that people seem to love or hate. He tries to relate to his students. Honestly, I did't put a ton of effort into this class & still did quite well. Lab, extra credit, clickers & online hw are all grade boosters. He will give points back on exams if he likes your work for multiple choice & gives lots of partial credit.

Barry is a great guy, but just an alright prof. PHYS201 w/ him is easy if you have any math background, esp. if you get calc I concepts easily; otherwise, it'll be a little harder for you. Barry's a goober, but he does really care so he'll help you get a good grade if you try. Lots of extra credit (attendance, labs, EC exams, etc). No book required

Everyone criticizes Barry more than they should. His class is extremely engaging. He might try to throw in inspirational remarks here and there, but he tries to keep you interested & it works. If you do the homework & always do clickers, you will get tons of extra credit. Exams are fair. Easy to get an A if you try, even w no physics background.

Got a B-. He WILL help you, and is very understanding. Go to office hours. Accidently missed a quiz, he was understanding. , As long as you show effort you'll get a good grade. Not the best teacher, but A LOT of EC on hw. Try to do well on labs. STUDY PRACTICE EXAMS, b/c it's VERY close to the actual test. Could've did a B+ but I bombed quizzes.

Barry is a good guy-tries to be too inspirational. Do HW and do it well b/c counts a ton of your grade. Each exam is like 9% so not much of your grade. He gives a ton of extra credit! HW once a week. Do well on your labs. 3 exams and one final (was optional my year). Lectures are boring but its physics. He gives a practice exam before each exam!

Pros: personable; class attendance not required; makes some topics interesting w/ examples; some EC. Cons: I gained little from class time (long, drawn out practice problems); tests are difficult & bad format: 4 MC (math/eqs. - NO concepts) & 2 longer problems; online HW unintuitive; took 10+ days to respond to email; lab TAs are unclear (foreign)

I enjoyed this class until the end of the semester.. I had a B+ in the class until he decided to grade the lab portion of the class on a cue to make it fair and now I just barely have a B-. Really disappointing to see just 2 weeks before the semester ends. Nice guy, easy class, unfair grading.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH BARRY HE IS A TERRIBLE TEACHER! He is very smart but he does not explain things well. The tests are 4 multiple choice 2 short answer and the multiple choice are impossible. Nothing from lectures are on the test and reading the textbook doesn't help. Get out while you still can.

I was honestly excited to go to class every morning. Most people get a B, its quite easy to do so. Go to lecture and seriously understand the example problems. Discussion quizzes come straight from the hw. Tests are only 9% so if you do well on hw, quizzes, and labs you can afford to bomb tests. Textbook is a waste of time.

Walker is extremely approachable. He obviously wants to get to know his students. More importantly he is very clear and gives students every opportunity to do well in the class. I would say the only negative about Walker is that he doesn't teach 202. Great professor all around.

Rome is a great guy and this class is a pretty easy breadth. 5 one-page papers and 2 exams (short answer and essay). Attendance is mandatory. There's 3 novels but you have class discussions about them that tell you everything you need to know. Tests are straight from lecture, take good notes while hes talking and its an easy class.

Lots of opportunities to get your grade up between lab, homework, and extra credit. The exams come straight from the lecture, so don't bother buying the text book. You can find the homework solutions online which is a BIG time saver because MasteringPhysics can get really annoying. I wish he taught 202!

Does his best to make physics relevant to various science fields - great real world connections. However, he does move quickly in his lectures and he often jumps ahead to complex examples before covering the basis of a concept. Great guy.

Really cool professor who is down to earth. Exams are difficult if you do not study, and sometimes are difficult even if you study. Managed to get an A but it was definitely a difficult class, simply because it is physics. He's definitely the best intro to physics prof.

this dude was alright i guess. his sarcasm sometimes got in the way and made me think he was arrogant. and i guess he knew what he was talking about as far as optics goes. lab is the hardest part and will seriously hurt your grade.
