Comment:
He's fine in lectures, but he's incredibly slow about grading, and he isn't clear on test feedback. I will be the first to acknowledge that I am not a perfect student, and there are some issues on my end that make it hard for me to reach out. We've taken 10 exams for grades, I just got 6/10 back. I have two weeks left and little idea how to improve

He's very knowledgable and kind to his students. Very helpful in office hours. His problem sets aren't too difficult, but watch out for typos. He isn't the best with technology but he tries.

This was Dr. Fox's first time teaching CHEM332 in several years, but he's an excellent lecturer in my opinion -- very patient, detailed, and technical explanations. He mixes in easy and challenging questions on his exams. NOTE: I had him virtually, so we had 11 quizzes and a final. In-person he does 3-4 in-class exams and a final.

Fox was great, exams were difficult but curved. He genuinely wants students to do well and is really funny in a science geek kind of way. Good class, clearer than Taber, but requires a lot of work.

Comment:
If you like puzzles, then this class will make perfect sense for you. The key to success on his open-note exams is a great "cheat sheet"--a paper with literally everything on it. Rewrite your notes, and you should be fine. A lot of people complain about how it's memorization of mechanisms--it really isn't--it's learning patterns.

I hate organic but he made going to class not so bad. Takes a long time to write on the board (makes for good nap time). Much more too the point and a fairer grader than Taber. Actually explains the concepts behind mechanisms, which is rare in organic.
