8 online quizzes with no due date. Two papers and 2-3 short exercises. Very flexible online class. Youll do better on the quizzes if you watch/skim the lecture before hand but other than that, the additional reading wasnt necessary to get a good grade.

As a geog major, this was hands down the worst geog class I took at sdsu. Videos are long and unclear. Instructor is mostly into himself and talks a lot about his travels and his book, but not enough about course content. ALL papers are graded by TAs, online quizzes have weird questions about his favorite movies. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

Comment:
Prof Aitken's online classes are unnecessarily hard and boring. Somehow he manages to make his recorded lectures hours longer than normal lec. Then you take the chapter quiz and it has a few questions that have nothing to do with the hours-long lecture + very specific Qs that you def missed while trying to take notes. Take him if you have to.

Very long recorded lectures that you must watch in order to complete the tests. 2 papers and 4 writing exercises. The TA grades everything and was more focused on grammar than content. It is very easy to get behind in the class because there are no hard due dates on the section quizzes just the papers and writing exercises. I will be retaking class

Modules aren't due until the end of the semester, but there are 4 essays that have due dates through out the semester. Lectures are long, and semi boring but they help with the quizzes. Essays aren't difficult, just follow the prompt and you'll do good.

His online lectures are incredibly long and monotone. The quizzes are supposed to be questions from the lectures but its unclear. There's question's from the book but the syllabus doesn't say anything about reading sections. And heavy assignments for basically no points.

You need to watch the extremely long lectures to pass the class. The quiz questions are so specific to the lectures. One of the worst online classes I have taken.

I thought this class would be interesting. The papers are okay. The quizzes aren't easy. Every time I took a quiz I felt prepared and thought I had put all the correct answers, but no, the questions are basically trick questions because he asks questions on the things he says during lecture instead of the actual notes you copy during the lectures.

No tests, just a few papers-easy if you follow the grading rubric. If you watch all his lecture videos and take notes you can get pretty much a perfect score on all quizzes without looking at the textbook. My only complaint is that his TA's grade papers most of the time, and they grade a bit harder than he does. He's really kind and understanding.

TA's grade papers, not the professor. His lectures are pre-recorded, so you would figure he has time to grade papers instead of his TA's.

He is a liberal arts professor who expects more emphasis in your papers about culture and society rather than science.

I took his Geo 354 class online and it was great. Its really nice for someone who works full time as the schedule is very flexible, 8 different quizzes that you have the entire semester to complete and a few papers/exercises. It is A LOT of material; he does a great job of making it interesting. Plus hes pretty handsome if you like older men! ;)

Love professor Aitken!! His online classes are designed to give you the freedom to do whenever you have time. All of the work is due by the end of the semester, except a couple of paper which have a hard deadline. He is very accommodating and really cares about his students. Great professor!

I took this class online and it was pretty simple. The lectures can be long but interesting and are needed for the quizzes after. If you manage to do one of the lessons each week, you can finish early. There are also a few papers and activities along the way, which were graded pretty harshly by the TAs. He also offers extra credit!

Honestly, I received ridiculously low grades on all my papers. Which is amazing considering I got As in all three of my writing classes taken at SDSU. Turns out the TA was grading my papers and was extremely critical of grammar instead of content. A lot of work for an 100 level class. Not the worst class, but not the best.

Professor Aitken is great! Took this class online. Consists for 8 exams, 2 papers and 3 projects. If you don't want to put in work and are looking for a no-brainer online class, don't take this one. You have to apply yourself for the papers to earn a good grade. Tests are easy but come directly form his online lectures. Take good notes to pass!

I took the online course over the summer. The class is manageable as long as you do the readings and watch the lectures. 8 modules, 2 essays, and two exercises. Aitken really enjoys what he teaches and that makes the class more interesting and fun. Plus he has a cute Scottish accent.

I got an A in this class. By far the best class I've had at SDSU. Much better than Geog 101. It is easy to get an A if you show up and do the projects. He's a good guy.
